Thanks for the post about spam filters, and the other posts about filter/sorting.
I am definitely looking for a spam filter; I tried MailDroid, which has a pretty decent spam filter; unfortunately, the rest of the program leaves a lot to be desired, so I'm back to AquaMail Pro.
In lieu of a full-fledged spam filter, I do have one feature suggestion that would help me, for one, dramatically, and render a spam filter mostly unnecessary:
This morning, when I checked my POP mail account, I had about 490 messages (yeah, the downside of having the same email address for 25 years). Only 30 were not spam. Yes, I can scroll through and mark all the spam emails and delete them, but that obviously takes a lot of time.
The feature I'm suggesting is a sort by "whether or not an email is from someone in my contacts" function. If I could sort so that all emails that are in my contacts are placed at the top of the list, I can quickly flip through the important emails for the day. AquaMail must know whether an email is from someone is my contacts, as it can assign icons based on that (either a picture, or a blank icon).
Of course, it's up to me to make sure that all my important senders are in my contacts, but I'd happily live with that. I could check my important emails, and just leave the spam for Outlook to filter out when I get around to reading the email on my PC. Since it might not be possible to sort by contact book as the emails are being read, I'd be more than happy with a sort that could only be used after all the emails have been read, that is, one that I had to trigger manually (and couldn't, therefore, be made the default sort).
This would get me very close to the Verizon Email app's "priority senders," which is pretty nice, but limited to only 25 senders.
I hope this is clear, if not, let me know and I can try again.
Thanks,
jim
