Changes in email header field FROM
« on: September 28, 2015, 12:41:48 pm »
Hello,

as a new AquaMail user I'm very happy with it.

However, one question remains:

When sending emails from my professional IMAP-mail-account (I'm employed at a German university), there should appear my alias "heiko.mueller(AT)uni-doofendorf.de" in the field FROM.

As it is now, there appears always "hmueller(AT)uni-doofendorf.de". "hmueller" is my global university account name and also my IMAP server access name, so this is not totally wrong. However, I would prefer my alias "heiko.mueller(AT)uni-doofendorf.de" in the field FROM.

On my desktop computer I'm using Thunderbird, and it was easy to set my alias to appear in the field FROM.

Is this possible in AquaMail, too? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!
/Heiko

Yes, it's possible -- AquaMail sends whatever you tell it (in the alias config).

However -- by default, AquaMail will connect to the SMTP server using the "parent" account's connection settings.

And some SMTP servers will rewrite the From to the account's address.

Please try re-configuring the alias (identity) in AquaMail to enable "Use its own SMTP server" (a checkbox on alias options screen).

You will want to enter the alias email as the server login. Hopefully your mail server allows this (since it's working for you in Thunderbird, I guess it should).

Dear Kostya,

Thanks, it worked!

Basically, it worked from the beginning - however, firstly I forgot to select the changed alias as sender...
