Here’s my setup; I have my own domain hosted by 1and1 with a couple of email accounts. For this example, I’ll call the emails 1@mydomain-dot-com and 2@mydomain-dot-com. I also have a Gmail account, let’s call it stub@gmail-dot-com. The Gmail account is configured to pull (via pop3) the two mydomain accounts.
Over in AquaMail, I added the Gmail account (stub@gmail-dot-com) and configured the two folders (1@mydomain-dot-com and 2@mydomain-dot-com) to sync via IMAP. Then I set up Identities so that I could send or reply to email from 1@mydomain-dot-com and 2@mydomain-dot-com via the 1and1 smtp server.
All this works perfectly. Here’s the flow;
1. An email is sent to 1@mydomain-dot-com (on the 1and 1 server).
2. Gmail pulls the email (via pop3) from the 1and1 server and assigns the label/folder 1@mydomain-dot-com.
3. AquaMail pulls the email from Gmail (stub@gmail-dot-com via IMAP) and displays a notification on my phone (see attached image).
4. The email ends up in a folder (called 1@mydomain-dot-com) under the stub@gmail-dot-com account.
5. If I reply to the email, it is sent using the Identity (1@mydomain-dot-com) through the 1and1 smtp server.
The problem for me is that the phone notification displays the email as sent to stub@gmail-dot-com. I would like it to display the email as sent to 1@mydomain-dot-com.
I understand that Identities are used for sending emails (not receiving), but I would think AquaMail should still be able to display the Identity name on the notification. Maybe I need to request this as an enhancement.
