Copy on the server
« on: January 06, 2013, 11:08:50 am »
Hi all, sorry if this seems a basic question, but I can't see it being asked anywhere......

How do I get Aquamail to download just a copy, and leave a copy on the server? I use a tablet to check my emails, but always like to have a copy on my desktop too. And Aquamail seems to download the mail, and not leave a copy on the server.

Can it be set to do this?

Thanks in advance.

If you're using POP3 then you should check the option not to delete from server.
There are a couple of setting in the account options:
- Deleting messages that should be set to "Hide in the app..."
- Remove deleted messages that should be unchecked

Hi Guys,

As user  "jcasares", said in its previous reply: "If you're using POP3 then you should check the option not to delete from server".
The question is: Where is that option located ? I can't see it in Aqua Mail.

I'm having the same problem as user "number_92", when downloading messages from Gmail server with Aqua Mail, the messages that where previously in INBOX folder are deleted and moved to DELETED folder in Gmail server.

With several other mail App like Profimail, K9, or even desktop Pegasus Mail, I have an option in the incoming mail server configuration with a check box to preserve mails from being deleted on server after downloaded by the application.

Any help where finding such option in Aqua Mail ?
Thanks in advance for any help on such matter.
Regards

On the main page long press on the account you're interested in and select "Options and folders". In there it's the "Deleting messages" option. Click it and select "Hide in the app, keep on the server"

I have the option "Hide in the app, keep on the server", enabled from the begining.
Curiously I only have this problem with Gmail server, with other mail servers I havn't the problem of Aqua mail deleting mails from server after downloading mail messages from them.
Any sugestion what could be causing this annoying problem between Aqua mail and Gmail servers ?
Waiting for any sugestions.

I believe GMail does have an option if you're using POP3 that says if you download a message it is automatically deleted. Check GMail settings.

I know that gmail as this option that is enabled by default.
The question is, with several other mail App this problem doesn't hapen.
How to explain that ?
Curiously when I configure the same mail account with IMAP access, I have the oposite problem, can't delete any mail with Aqua mail in Gmail server.
Resuming, with POP3 can't prevent mails from being deleted on server.
With IMAP can't delete them from server.
This problem hapens only between Aqua mail and Gmail.
Aqua mail with other servers, no problem at all.
Other mail App with Gmail server no problem at all.
I believe that must be an explanation and a solution for such situation.
