Want most recent emails synced not oldest

I set up Aquamail on my Samsung G3 syncing with my gmail account which has thousands of emails in the Inbox, with a limit of 250 emails.
It reads the oldest 250 emails - how can I change that to read the newest 250 emails?/

I am having the same issue my in box reads 267 all the time. Does not change and it is the oldest ones!
