I've searched all over but can't seem to find the answer.   I like to clean off emails from the server that I don't want anymore while I am traveling so when I get home I don't have to clean up the account when I get home.  I don't want to download all the junk to my computer but if I am gone for the day the junk can build up.  It is easier to clean it off the server several times during the day then it doesn't take as long when I get home.

When i delete email from the inbox, it goes to the deleted folder but doesn't get taken off the server.   So then I empty the deleted folder but it still doesn't get taken off the server.

The same type of problem occurs in reverse if I am home and deleting off the server first.  The junk was already downloaded to the phone but when the phone syncs with the server, the junk that was removed from the server doesn't get removed from the phone when the program syncs with the server later.

How do I get AquaMail to actually sync with the server?

Thank you,
Cindy

For POP3, this is as expected (since POP3 doesn't provide access to any folders but the INBOX)

And this is quite unexpected. At this point, Aqua should run a sync and delete those messages from the server.

Do you see it syncing?

Oh, except some mail providers decided that POP3 "DELETE" is too dangerous, so they make it look (to mail apps using POP3) that messages get deleted -- but really move them to a separate folder on the server.

I *believe* that Hotmail is one of those.  Please check web mail after emptying Deleted in Aqua -- to see if that is the case ("deleted" messages getting moved to a separate folder).

Long press the account -> options and folders -> account options -> enable "Remove deleted messages".

This means "Remove from AquaMail those messages that had been downloaded earlier but on subsequent sync are discovered to be missing from the server, presumably deleted by the user".

( but that was too long for the settings screen )

still struggling here.  I didn't get an email that you had replied but I am still having the issue so went looking for answers.  The emails that I emptied from the Deleted Folder on the phone are staying in the INBOX on the server.  They are not getting deleted.  They are not being moved to a special folder on the server.  And the Inbox is syncing as I get new email coming in but the permanently deleted emails from the deleted folder on the phone just stay in the Inbox when syncing.

So eventually the server side starts to reach it limit and then I have to go into the server and delete all the messages I worked so hard from deleting from the phone at the time.
