Print messages
« on: October 19, 2014, 12:53:58 pm »
I'm using Printshare to print documents using a WiFi printer, I would like to extend this feature to Aquamail messages.
Must I ask Printshare to add Aqua to sources or a print suite in Aqua?
Thanks

Fcasoli:
You can print messages using PinterShare without any additional extension.
Go to message view > menu > Copy/Send/Share/Print > Send/Share/Print message text > in the "Send to" window choose the app "PrinterShare" (... or any other print app) > proceed within this app
-> see attached screenshots

Francesco:
I added the "print" description in the German translation a few months ago since I also have missed this feature before.

And yes the format text doesn't look very nice.  However better than nothing...for the time being  8)

You can ask the developers of this printing app to support text/html content for Intent.ACTION_SEND.

It's all in Android developer docs. Here is my code:

Quote
final Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_SEND);
intent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_TEXT, text);
intent.setType(MimeDefs.MIME_TEXT_PLAIN);
intent.putExtra(EXTRA_HTML_TEXT, html);

Or you could use Cloud Print by Paolo Fernandes, which handles text/html just fine.

Or Google Cloud Print if your phone has Android 4.4 (or 5.0, I suppose).

Does anyone know if the build in "Google Cloud Print" with 4.4+ is different to the Play Store version?

I can't check this because I'm using 4.3 on my devices (yes I am a kind of old fashioned 8))

Looks like it might be more or less the same app, and/or same ability to print to Google Cloud Enabled printers, but --

-- Android has built-in printing support only since 4.4.

So in Aqua, you won't get a separate menu item for "Print via Google Cloud Print" -- but you can try "Share" and see if this printing app comes up.

The description sort of hints at it:

"The Google Cloud Print app is a print plugin on Android KitKat, and a standalone app on earlier versions of Android. If you update your device to KitKat, you may need to remove the icon manually."

Yes, the app "Print via Google Cloud Print" comes up within the "Share" menu.

You can always take a simple option like a Coolmuster SMS Messages Software.It not only transfer and save phone messages, but you can also print messages with .xml or .txt files on your computer. If you want to print phone messages, you could try this print app.
