Badge count on icon (widget) is wrong

I have a gmail account and Aquamail's Widget always says I have 2 emails in my inbox even though I have none.  I've gone direct to gmail and checked, plus I have other mail apps that don't say 2 messages.  Tried clearing the app cache, force stopping the app and restarting my phone.  Tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling - nothing fixed it.

I have a Sony Xperia X3 compact running latest Android 5.0/. Using the Pro (paid) version of Aquamail.

This just started about a week ago, and it's driving me nuts.  Couldn't find anything in the forums about this - please help.

Which mail account are you using?

Please log into web mail, and check the unread count there.

If necessary, mark all - "all" including old messages - as "read".

Or the unread count on the app's icon in launcher?

Those are two different things, please clarify.

What about the account's unread count in the app itself? Does it show 2 unread too?

If it does, please try searching for unread messages (and mark them read) in gmail / web:

I have the same issue with AquaMail Pro, except both the app launcher icon AND the widget are showing 1 message but I know for a fact there aren't any because I cleared out both AquaMail and my mail file (I run my own postfix server as a linux author myself). I even removed my account so there's 0 accounts in Aqua Mail and it's still telling me I have 1 email message. I have AquaMail Pro ver 1.5.9.11

First time I've experienced an issue with Aqua Mail. Good work on it! I'll be happy to test a fix if you wish.

Bug spotted! Fix needed please.
It appears that the latest version available on Google Play has a bug where the db and the badge are not in sync
The badge will continue to reflect the last total messages pulled into the client until the next batch arrives. Ex: I pop3 my mail and receive 3 messages, the badge count will hold at 3 until I pop again and that total changes to say 1 or 5.... and then the badge count will hold at *that* number until the next pop occurs and a new total exists. If total messages == 0, than the badge doesn't change.

Please check every option (again) in App settings > Message notifications.

In particular which counter you want to see:
"Notify about" > All unread messages
                        > New unread messages

If you're using a Samsung, LG or Sony device then make sure that the option "Launcher icon counter" is activated (> scroll down to the very last option in the same settings section)

This is the app's launcher icon, not the widget.

Are we talking about Samsung TouchWiz counter, in the launcher, on the home screen, and on the app's icon?

Just making sure we're on the same page here.

Is the unread count properly displayed in AquaMail? That is, no unread messages, if I understood you correctly?

What if you create a widget instead? Does that get updated correctly?

Oh, and what's your phone's Android version? Since this is an undocumented function, it may not work very well on the older versions, say, prior to 4.3 or 4.4.
