All accounts and settings deleted
« on: June 26, 2014, 02:25:55 pm »
Hi,

yesterday all of my accounts and settings mysteriously disappeared from AquaMail. When I start the app it only shows the initial screen asking to create an account. When re-adding the widget it tells me "You have not set up any mail accounts yet.".

I have not installed any new apps and there was no system upgrade recently. I have Android 4.3 on a GT-I9300 with kernel version 3.0.31.2429075.

Is there any way to recover the accounts and settings or do I have to start over from scratch? I usually have all Google backups enabled.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Sounds like a storage / file system corruption that wiped all of the app's storage.

I routinely "upgrade/reinstall" the app during development dozens of times a day, on multiple devices, and never seen this over all of several years.

And yet it seems to happen "out in the field" from time to time. Very rare, very unpleasant, but I think not related to the app itself.

Yes, unfortunately, you'll need to recreate your accounts / settings. I also recommend wiping the app's data first, to be "more" safe. This is in system settings -> apps management.

And BTW - Aqua has a built-in backup / restore facility, and since 1.4.something, you can store the backup file in Dropbox (or restore from there).

Ok, that's what I did. Thanks for pointing out the backup option, this will certainly avoid the situation in the future.

Cheers,
