Old emails keep being delivered
« on: September 25, 2015, 11:42:31 pm »
How do I stop Aquamail from retrieving ALL the mail on my Verizon server? It was working fine until 2 days ago.
Now, each time it brings in mail, I get EVERYTHING still on the server, as opposed to just the new emails.
(Yes, I know I can delete it from the server manually to prevent it, but I receive my email numerous computers, tablets, phone, etc, and want all mail delivered to each.)
Thank you!

@deeanjo: Are you using POP3 or IMAP for your account?
If it is POP3, I would highly recommend setting it up via IMAP.
IMAP protocol is usually much more robust against the type of problems that you experience.
(You cannot change that type, you'd have to set up a new account in Aquamail, using the same credentials, but choosing "IMAP", and then, you can delete your POP3-based account in Aquamail.)

@Paris Geek:
I don't see the reason why (in this case) one should reinstall Aquamail.
If it is a problem on the provider's side, then it wouldn't help. It would be just
a voodoo pass that may create an illusion that it helped if indeed the problem on the server side gets cleared, as you suggested.

The main reason (if not the only one) to reinstall the same version of Aquamail would be in case if there is a suspicion that its internal database got corrupted for some reason.
