Setting AquaMail as default mail application
« on: January 24, 2014, 01:12:46 pm »
AquaMail undeniably is a VERY nice mail application in many aspects. With my Samsung Galaxy Note 3, there is a default email program "on board" which continues to be chosen as default for emailing, e.g. pictures just taken with the phone, despite the fact that I 1) have deleted all accounts linked with this e-mail program and 2) rather exclusively use AquaMail. I wonder whether I can "substitute" the on board email program by AquaMail? And this preferably without "rooting" the phone (which has been debranded, btw, but still runs Samsung/KNOX-Android 4.3). The on board email program can't be deleted, I should like to mention.

Android apps that cannot be deleted can usually still be deactivated. That is what I did with Google's mail and Gmail apps. Just grab the app's icon and move it to the top; there should be some (i) button. One of the options you should then see is "Deactivate". Sure, those apps will then still "sit" on your phone, but not be active any more ...
