App Data Backup
« on: January 17, 2014, 01:27:56 am »
Can your app be set to automatically backup our settings for your app to google. The main use of this would be if i got a new phone i could download or a tablet i could download aquamail with the settings already pre-set.

Al alternative to this would be if we could backup the settings in the app and then choose to restore it as the backups would of downloaded with the app itself on our new device.

Thanks ! great app !

There is a backup / restore feature, look in the menu in the "main window" (account list).

It backs up account and folder settings, and app settings to a local file.

Then you can copy the file to the new device, and restore the settings there.

I agree that doing 1) automatic 2) cloud based backup would be a nice idea.

I can't use Android's built-in app data backup, because its use policy specifically prohibits storing account logins and passwords.

I would say even if aquamail auto-backed up our settings to google's auto-backup service this would be useful, it would be less setup time just entering a few username/passwords and were back to basics, just not sure how many people do backup/restore properly ?
