Old Messages in Smart Folder

Firstly I love the App but this issue is really annoying

Every 24 hrs normally during the night my Aqua mail updates hourly and for some reason uploads to my Smart inbox some messages from my hotmail account that I have either deleted or have been in my inbox several months but are not new. This does not happen with my Sky or Gmail emails. Any ideas on how to cure would be great as its really annoying to sort out every morning

Are you using POP3 or IMAP with the Hotmail account?

Do you touch these messages in any way, anywhere (e.g. mark them read on the server)?

You also mentioned deleted messages - are they gone from the server at that point?

If it's a POP3 account and you use "move to deleted", not that messages will not be deleted from the server until you've purged the folder (long press the folder, or configure AquaMail to do it automatically in settings -> Mail, other).
