Do you have an online manual?
« on: December 23, 2012, 02:00:26 pm »
Looking for an online manual, specifically about how to control background and Auto-Sync.  I use GreenPower Premium and it has all control over how Auto Sync and Background sync.  And I want to setup your email app so that it will follow GreenPower's rules.  There are many settings in your app and I need to know exactly what they do.

Such as "System Settings".  What does each of the 3 options means?

"When the App is active" What schedule mail checks are we talking about???

Event Types --- What is consider a "Master Sync" setting?  WIFI Connection? Mobile Data? Other connection types? The App resuming?

what is a "Settle in" delay??

The end results - basically I want Aqua Email to only check for emails when GreenPower turns on WIFI or Mobile Data only.  other wise I want the Aqua Email to just do nothing until then.

For GreenPower, you probably want to use the "Master sync" trigger in AquaMail.

A settle in delay should probably be set too, maybe 15 seconds or so, to give the device time to connect to the network.

Ok I am having some issues.  I have the following settings.  By default GreenPower turns off WIFI and Data during Screen off.  When you turn on screen it enables Data... and WIfi.. when Wifi is connect it disables Data.  But here is the problem.

Everytime I go in to Aqua Mail.  The two accounts I have never sync  even though I have the following settings.  I have to manually hit the "Sync".  For example.  Right now the last time it sync was 6:34pm.  but currently my time is 7:06pm.  It won't sync when I even go in to the app.

According to the way I have it set up.  It SHOULD automatically when either WIFI or DATA or when the App resume, right?  as long it has past 5mins of wait.

So please advice why this is happening. Does it matter what has been set in the "Synchronization Setting" part?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Start Sync on Event

Event Types:
WIFI Connection, Mobile Data, The app resuming,

At most this often:
5minutes

"Settle in" delay:
15sec

Hi,

This is getting complicated :) Can you record a debug log, capturing you unlocking the device (and WiFi and data turning on) and then resuming (restarting) the app?

Actually I got it working now... but you might want to explain "System Settings: Observe All" means.  The lack of a manual with all these different option is making it confusing.

When I changed "Observe All" to "Sync Even when "Auto-Sync" is off" has fixed my problem.  BUT  I think it has now cause a lot of unnecessary "Wakes".

I am using BetterBatteryStats to monitor  Alarm Wakes.. and Aqua Mail is almost always in the top 3 most "wakes".

I will post picture when I get more data.

This is a screen shot during the past 5 hours while the phone was in deep sleep.  Not sure why Aqua mail is doing to cause a wake lock.

Probably something similar to what Calendar Storage is doing.

When you have a scheduled mail check configured, it still wakes up from time to time, finds there is no network connection, and lets the device go back to sleep.

Well that's what I am trying to get at.  When it is set to "Observe All" it doesn't check for anything, even when Green Power turns on AutoSync and then turns on WIFI/Data during sleep.

Is Aqua Mail "smart" enough to try to get emails when there is a "sudden" WIFI/Data connection during sleep?

Regarding the smartness question -- there is a group of settings (shown in the extended mode) to trigger mail sync based on events, like WiFi or mobile becoming connected, or the device's "master switch" for background sync getting enabled.

As far as alarms go -- it's hard to get the execution paths down to absolute minimum for every combination of settings.

Right now, what you're seeing is that, the app wakes up on the usual background sync schedule, discovers there is no network connection, and lets the device go back to sleep.

Where does it stand in the device's standard battery consumption screen?
