Facebook or Contact Photos in message list?
« on: September 08, 2013, 08:10:42 pm »
I had suggested this previously and the software author seemed to show some interest in it...

Possible to have contact photos show up next to each message?

Also, to take it one step further, allow integration with Facebook so those avatars appear next to each message.

I just downloaded another email client that features Contact photos and it really livens up the message list.

AquaMail is still my default client, but I am hoping for some improvements on the photos front

App settings -> message list -> enable "contact images".

Facebook keeps their contact images private, I believe it's by design on their part. Images from Google+ do show, though.

Kostya,

Wanted to come back here and thank you.

Finding out that adding contact pictures was possible made all the difference in the world.

Plus, with this new update, I love the icons.  Makes the interface so much nicer.

Thank you.

At least one app that I use gets my picture from Facebook. I think this happens because this app let users use their Facebook login and also give them points for getting Facebook friends to load the app.

That's my understanding -- Facebook wants developers to play by their own rules, even on a platform that has its own (rules, that is).

Images from Google+ contacts and Gmail contacts show just fine...

You can import Facebook photos to Aquamail.

You just need to add Facebook to your Android sync accounts (via settings)

You then, in settings, indicate that you want your phone's contacts to sync with Facebook.

That should import over friend's Facebook photos.

By the way...

Just to say this again...

Having contact photos and avatars?

PRICELESS!

This email app keeps getting better.

Oh contact photos have been there for some time, but the color chips are new.
