Limit notifications to "Inbox" ... Safe to use "Sync as Spam"?

I want to sync several folders so I can see the message counts and read the quickly.  However, I only want notifications for messages in my "Inbox".  For the rest (mostly mailing lists), I still want to be able to search and read them quickly like any other mailbox, but without cluttering my notification bar with reminders about the thousands of unread mailing list messages.

P.S. I just discovered AquaMail yesterday, and WOW!!!!!  What a breath of fresh air... The design and implementation is the best I've ever seen on any mobile platform.

At this time, setting a folder to "Sync as spam" does not have any bad side effects. These folders are excluded from notifications (as you already discovered) and do not keep track of their unread counts. That's it.

If you have one or more spam folders, the app will have a "move to spam" command in message list and message view modes, which will simply move messages to one of those folder, but will not have any effects for filtering.

I'm thinking that setting the IMAP \Spam flag when moving messages into spam folders would be nice, but before I do that, I'll provide a more straightforward way to exclude folders from notifications.
