threaded message list please
« on: December 08, 2012, 07:12:07 pm »
For anyone coming from the iPhone or iPad world, email without threaded view just feels silly. As fat as I can tell, the only android email program with threading is gmail. Aqua seems nice, but I am reserving my android email dollars for a threaded client. Ktyhxbai! :-)

I too was looking for a threaded option but I didn't find one.  Given all the features AquaMail provides, the fact that threaded messages is currently not supported is a small annoyance but for me, not a deal killer.  I'm happy with my purchase.  :)

There is a couple email clients with threaded email but they call it conversion list. It just lists the emails under the subject. Don't want to list the names, otherwise people will think I am advertising for them.  ;D

+1 for a conversation mode

Note that historically a "conversation mode" and the traditional "threaded view" are different things - a threaded message list generally only groups related messages from one mailbox together. Conversation mode groups messages from all mailboxes together. The difference is that when using threaded mode for example on your inbox, it will only show other people's replies in the thread, whereas in conversation mode you will also see your messages (from your sent mail) in the thread.

Conversation mode is vastly more useful than the traditional threaded view, but it can be computationally more intensive since to access all your mailboxes (inbox, sent and archives, at least) for it to work properly.

(I'd totally pay for this feature!)

That is a very good point. I'm used to having a traditional threaded view from the iPhone mail app, and that's what I'd ideally like from Aqua Mail. But I can see why some people would want the full conversation mode.

Oh please give AquaMail users this most basic of features!!!

From what I can see it is long overdue.

G-MAIL has it.

The stock Android mail client has it.

MailDroid has it.

K9 Mail has it.

Another user for threaded/conversation view. Should be switchable between the two (and to off, for those who don't like it - there are still a few) - I bcc myself with everything I send, so a view that aggregated all mail folders into one conversation would show me two copies of each of my messages !

It is certainly not going to happen anytime soon I have heard.    :'(

Which is a real shame.

As A.M. has the potential to be one of the best mail apps on the market IMO.

But the lack of this feature is THE deal breaker for me.

As soon as AquaMail supports threading,
I will immediately buy it.
Best email app, but the lack of threading
is really annoying.

There are technical reasons why this will not happen any time soon I have been told.

I agree it is really annoying and the reason many will not use this excellent app.

I am also hoping threaded view comes to Aqua Mail.

That really is a shortcoming with this App, but everything else is done so well that for the moment, its exclusion can be forgiven.
