GMAIL Imap account issue
« on: May 06, 2013, 03:14:51 pm »
Hello, I am trying to configure a gmail account with IMAP protocol.
I fill all the necessary filelds with the correct values but when Aquamail do the checking for the account, it says "network error, check credential".
I tried the same settings on another mail client on the smartphone and it worked.
Could you help me in configuring more detailed settings on Aqua Mail?
Thank you very much.

Works here without problems. If i remember well for setting up an Gmail account you only need to fill in the email and password. The rest does AM.

Yes, setup for @gmail.com addresses is automatic.

Just enter your name / email / password and press Next.

Please help.
I can't get my Gmail account to be accepted by Aquamail.
I have added an attachment to show the error window.
It does go through the configuring the Incoming & Outgoing servers.

Could I be some setting that I need to set that I'm missing?

I'm using a Asus Transformer infinity TF700  android Tablet.

The app is unable to connect to Gmail's servers. This is something outside the app itself.

Can you try rebooting the device? Try mobile data if using WiFi, or the other way around, if you can?

Another idea - in case this is a location specific DNS issue:

...is to press Manual on the initial account setup page, and change server names from "imap.gmail.com" to "imap.googlemail.com" (incoming), and from "smtp.gmail.com" to "smtp.googlemail.com" (outgoing). This should get you different servers, might work better.

Finally - someone was having issues like this before, the app not being able to connect at all, and a full reinstall of AquaMail fixed it. I guess something gets screwed up during the install process sometimes (no, I really can't be any more vague than that -- wish I knew when and how things go bad inside Android....).
