Title: POP3 Network error received when trying to set up an account
Post by: Julian Alder on March 21, 2013, 02:02:10 am
HI please can someone help. I am having problems setting up my POP3 email. I have used the same setting that I have used in K9 mail (which I would like to change from so that I can use the Aqua Mail integration with Tasker), but when Aqua Mail does an account check, it comes back with an Account check error: "Incoming mail server (POP3): Network error", and the same for the outgoing SMTP server? My email service doesn't use encryption, and uses a server port of 110 for POP3 and 366 for SMTP. I don't know what I am doing wrong. The settings work fine in K9?

Thank you
Julian

Julian,

If you go into the "Settings" option, at the bottom are a series of debug options. It would probably help Kostya a lot if you can create a log file from these and send it to him for further diagnosis.

If you need any help with creating a debug log then please reply back.

Hi,

Did you select "No encryption" under security?

Also, SMTP is typically port 587 or 25 (when not using encryption).

In addition to what Rachel said, you could email me at kmansoft / gmail, and let me know what server names and ports you're using.

Even when I don't have an account somewhere, I can still try to connect to see if that server name / port combo is valid (without trying to authenticate, of course).
