Title: Very small font size when creating a message

I've been using this app for many years and first now this happened:
When I open the editing window to create a new message the font in the To, Subject and the main text fields are very, very small. Once the message is sent the font is bigger and easy to read.
How do I change/increase the size of the font in the editing window?
I'm using the latest version on Android 8.0

You can toggle the font with the volume up and down buttons or from the top-right three dot menu, under View.
