Title: Deleting now two steps?

I've noticed the latest version now has a tiny triple-dot button that must be tapped to bring up a menu. Deleting an email now takes two steps, not one? That's the wrong direction...

I don't know what you mean. Clicking the three dot menu doesn't give any delete options.
You can set swipe to delete an email, tap it's icon and then the trash can, or open the email and click the trash can on the bottom left.
