Hi all,

The update is currently visible for 25% of all devices, randomly picked by Google.

+ Revamped the Message View menu with a brand new and fresh design.
+ Copy messages - You can now Copy messages from folder to folder.

What's improved since the beta:
+ We've improved the new message view menu so that it doesn't take up so much space.
+ We've added a new hint that tells you that you can Drag & Drop the menu icons.

Thanks, but does not work on my tablet Samsung Tab S6 (Android 10). Still the "old" message view and menu. (Copy messages works.)

Instead there are still a lot of connections to "firebaseinstallations.googleapis.com" and also some to crashlytics. Though I disabled sending usage reports and crash reports. You promised in this forum that tracking modules will not be enabled in pro version.

When you will get it fixed?

Also wondering when the trackers will finally be removed. Very convenient to avoid to reply to that same, old question over and over again.

@Radoslav Stoyanov
Next Problem, this time on phone Samsung S10+:

I can't remove the menu buttons "previous" and "next" from message view: "... can't be removed".

Since we can swipe from message to previous/next message, those buttons are useless. In previous versions of AquaMail I could remove and replace them.

Why this downgrade?

Please help. What to do? Stick with previous version of AquaMail or waiting until this is fixed? Thx.

The new message view menu works only with the One-panel UI for now, due to technical constraints. :) You can Enable/Disable it from Settings -> Look and Feel -> Two-panel UI

Also wondering when the trackers will finally be removed. Very convenient to avoid to reply to that same, old question over and over again.

Our developers are still investigating on why these trackers are enabled for our users.

You can disable those buttons. Please navigate to Settings -> Swiping -> Enable/Disable Show icons too

But You have not explained why mailbox name and account is removed in the message view? So please add them back

Screenshot added, left = old, right = new.

Thanks for clarification. This information was missing in changelog.

Thanks again, helps. Didn't find it in that category. These icons have nothing to do with "swiping".
Better move in message view settings?

Fully agree on the next/previous buttons. I'd never figure out that I need to change this setting - that is very confusing.

I'd like to ask for adding the "Archive" button to the list of available buttons down in the bar - for me that's the most used action and I'd love to have it available in the bottom right.

Thank you.

Nope. In my settings, the swiping next and previous is disabled and the "show icons too" is grayed out. Both checkboxes are unchecked. If I check swipe to next/previous, I can check to show the icons - but since that's what I _don't_ want, it doesn't really help!

I do not want those icons. I want Mark Unread and Move to Folder, which I use _constantly_. It's nice to give us options (someone else might want another icon on the one-tap bar) - but putting functions that were immediately available so they require an extra swipe _every time_ they're used is really bad UI.

It is SUPER confusing but apparently you have to enable the first setting - enable swipe and then the greyed out option will get enabled. You have to leave that unchecked and then those previous/next buttons disappear :-) Agree that normal human being would never guessed that this is how you hide them but that's what it is now...

Thanks, mmerlin. That does get rid of them. Of course it leaves me with a function enabled that I'd deliberately disabled - the swiping happened too easily when I didn't want it to.

And in fact, the three icons that you and I asked for are one-tap available - they're just in an entirely new place, and have removed other info. The account and folder info at the top, that ksuuk is complaining about disappearing, has been removed to make room for those three icons (Move to Folder, Archive, Mark Unread). Not an acceptable tradeoff, to my mind - I need that info! When the email just says it's to "me", I need to know which of my four accounts and many folders it's to and in.

Agree. I like the idea of customizable buttons but don't understand why it was screwed by those tradeoffs that have absolutely nothing to do with the new functionality. So I think I'll summarize it for all if I say

1) please make previous / next buttons optional exactly like any other buttons without having to enable another features (swipe...)

2) add archive / move to folder to bottom buttons - again, without any other changes to other features

3) add back the info in the top

Right?

I'll second all of the above.

If you can swipe left or right to go to prev and next, who needs those arrows.

I've always had the "archive" and "forward" buttons at the bottom, and used the 3-dot at the bottom to access other functions - like "move to folder". Now the archive and folder buttons are permanently at the top - very hard to reach. And they aren't available as options at the bottom at all.

And of course the account and folder info at the top is gone! Bad idea.

And I really preferred the previous overflow (3-dot) at the bottom which brought up a vertical list of (text only) options very easy to scan through. I prefer that to the new screen full of tiny icons, and even tinier text, where you have to scan right to left horizontally over several rows of icons to find what you want. It probably looks "prettier", but I don't find it as practical and it slows down the search.

BOTTOM LINE: I've just rolled back to the previous 1.26.0 version till somebody fixes these deal breakers. I'll probably miss some other new features. But these mentioned here are everyday, all the time, features. The changes have ruined it for me.

As this "Revamped the Message View menu with a brand new and fresh design" actually involved also a lot other things and downgrade is a pain (I have to adjust all calendars etc again), so I suggest to make this new layout optional, so that users can choose either the old or the new layout.

Please can someone advise me how i roll back to the previous version. I don't like the new message view layout. I find myself scrolling my message and accidentally bringing up the bottom bit with all the icons. Also, I used to have a flat design (still use the original classic design from ages ago) but now I have a shadow and curved edges. Don't like this at all.

I don't think there is an easy way to roll back unless you made apk backup. Also if you do, Google play will continue forcing you to update. There is no way to exclude one app from updates (unless you do updates manually).

Just noticed what previous poster has added. If you flick upward from the lower part of screen to scroll through a long message, it's way too easy to accidentally roll up that bottom bar full of icons.
Add to that that at least on my Samsung phone, I'm  able to replace the lower navigation buttons by hiding them and just swiping up from the bottom of the screen in the general area of those previous bottons to "go back", "go to home screen", or "recent apps". So if I swipe up from the center bottom of screen to go "home", I may instead be expanding that lower option bar.

That's in addition to all the other complaints.

I liked the suggestion to have a choice of message view layouts: the new one for those who like it and the old one - a legacy layout - for those who don't.
If AqusMail is all about options and customization, then provide an option for this.

Yes, you can exclude individual apps from being updated. On the individual app's page in Google Play Store, tap the three dots in upper right corner, then check or uncheck the auto update option that appears. The app will then not be automatically updated. And if you manually choose "update all" from a manual list, then Google will ask you to manually confirm any updates for apps that are excluded from auto-update. Just choose "skip" or "cancel" to each inquiry.

You can also still maintain automatic updates for all apps except for AM if you re-sign the cert it will be excluded from Google play.

Let's see if it developer listens to the user feedback first.

Curious what you mean by "cert sign". That may be better than what I described above about just unchecking the auto-update option for individual apps. Though in that case all the rest of the apps still do auto-update as usual. The only ones excluded are those you've chosen to exclude, and those still appear in the update-all list; they just don't actually get updated unless you choose them manually. But I like the fact that they still appear in the list as a way of reminding me, in case I want to check out a new version.

I do this with apps whose recent updates have either caused problems or are just not to my liking. Currently, in addition to AM, I also have TuneIn Radio on the no-update list because in the last two versions the Sleep Timer is not working. When they fix it - and they do say they're working on it - then I'll go back to auto-update for that app.
But I like to keep it in the main update list so I don't forget about it. I wouldn't want to use a method that made it "disappear" from the Store.

And I use Buggy Backup to keep three past apk versions of all apps, so it's easy to revert to older versions after uninstalling a problem child. (Or you can find older versions on APK Mirror)

There is a way to sign the apk to bypass the play receiver, but doing so will not notify you of updates

Hi all,

As with all big changes in some apps there is almost always some negative feedback. We had to remove some of the message view menu features as not a lot of users were using them, and putting them again inside of the menu would take up too much space. We're going to make some future changes for the menu:

We're considering on improving the full screen mode, but we'll need some time to get some ideas on how we can improve the mode itself. We're listening to all user feedback that we receive, as it is always valuable for us to develop the app the way our users want it to be.

Hi Radoslav,

This sounds as good solution and huge thanks for considering the feedback :-) Completely appreciate new things always come with some resistance but great to see you listen and try to meet the needs of customers :)

One thing I was wondering - there are two buttons - Reply and Reply Only. What is the difference?

Thanks I reverted back to the rev I had before the update and will stick with it till they sort out the issues. Always backup the apk before any update just in case. The one thing AM did right is the backup and restore option.

eems like you guys had plenty of feedback during beta and decided to still proceed and force these changes to only get more backlash and angry loyal users reverting to previous revs.

Perhaps it would be to your company benefit in the future to listen to feedback in beta release.

I'm pleased to hear you are making these changes. I hope they show up sooner than later.

One thing not many have mentioned is the new menu bar at the bottom is slightly taller than the previous one. Real estate on a small phone screen is critical. No need for empty dead space on the menu bar on the bottom. Reduce this bar to the previous size or smaller.

Correct way is ask before and act later, now they did it vice versa and such behavior does have consequences.
