Email works just fine - but when I do a search, after returning any hits from the messages synced on my device, it then reports
"Error performing search - Invalid server response"
I appreciate that I probably haven't provided enough info but I would like to know:
What more info will help.
Whether there are known issues with my host (1&1 ionos)
Why this behaviour might have changed sometime in the last year or so.
(I used to be able to search without this error but for (I guess) about a year or so, perhaps more, I haven't been able to.)
My email server is part of a hosting plan I have with I&1-Ionos and I have 3 mailboxes in regular use, using IMAP, and synced in aqua mail. One of these has a very large number of emails in it (tens of thousands), one has a few thousand, and one a few dozen. The one with only a few dozen emails does not trigger this error when I search, but it may be that all the messages are already in aquamail.

Aqua Mail uses a full standard IMAP server search command, from IMAP documentation (RFC 3501).
And so please contact 1und1 support since it has to be broken on the server.
Especially if it worked before and doesn't now - because our search command has not changed since... 2012 or so?

#Beaky, did you get any luck contacting IONOS about this as I have the same issue.

I have the same issue with a live.com account added using the "Hotmail or Outlook.com" option. My inbox in Outlook has about 40K messages, but AquaMail is synced with only 250 messages, and 250 cached.
If I click on "Search all loaded" after the error display, it seems to show more messages, but I don't know how complete the search results are with those.
Thanks.
