Title: Version 1.17.0-1206-dev - "work in progress" - not in Google Play

---

Google is forcing developers into "updating apps for newest Android versions" (if it's not done - it won't be possible to upload updates into Google Play).

In practical terms - this means new limitations having to do mostly with networking and working in the background.

So far we updated the app to "target" Android 7.

- Removed: "sync by events" - "network connectivity".

- Removed: push mail over WiFi only

- Improved: multi-window support (Android 7+, Chrome OS)

- Improved: Samsung DEX support (I don't have one, but it should work now)

- Improved: fixed not able to open attachments on Chrome OS

---

Google требует от разработчиков "обновить свои приложения для работы на новых версиях Андроида" (если не сделано - будет невозможно загружать обновления в Google Play).

Chrome OS

Re: Kostya, why push mail over wifi only is not compatible with Android 7?

On Android 7, apps are not notified when the phone's network connectivity changes.

There is an alternative mechanism - but it doesn't differentiate WiFi vs. mobile.

And just to be clear:

What's not possible is - restricting push mail to WiFi *only* (i.e. "I want push mail on WiFi, but not on mobile data").

Just for clarifying:
Is "push mail over wifi only" still available on Android versions 4.x, 5.x and 6.x?

Yes.

Anyone using this option?

Re: I'm using this option, and finding it useful to limit battery usage. I lost this option when installing new build (Android 8)

Ah OK. Yes I know it was useful. But it's not part of Google's vision for Android's future.

Kostya,

I'm using DEX all the time these days. Even before this update, AM behaved very well in DEX. I did notice that I don't receive a message stating "some functions may not be supported under DEX" anymore.

I really like using my S9+ in this environment and very happy to see how AM looks and feels in DEX.

If there is functionality that I can test for you, please let me know. And thanks for an ever evolving product.

Dave,

Re: Even before this update, AM behaved very well in DEX.

Yes we did some work maybe a year ago for DEX and Multi-Window.

Re: I did notice that I don't receive a message stating "some functions may not be supported under DEX" anymore.

The difference is that now Android "knows" this (that we support DEX and Multi-Window) and before it didn't.

Appreciate the comment. There is a DEX "cradle" in our QA Department - so they're going to test this too.

But if you run into any issues - feel free to post here or email support / at / aqua-mail / dot com. I'll see it either way.

Yes, I'm using this option too. Usually when I travel.

I used it on my old phone (Marshmallow) because it meant I got notified of email arrival immediately when I was at home, or some other place where getting random notifications didn't matter. At work, or when travelling, where I didn't have Wi-Fi, I didn't want to be disturbed randomly so used scheduled sync so that notifications occurred more regularly.

I'd been wondering why I'd been getting random annoying notifications, on my new Pie phone, when I was at work and only just realised this is why.
