I am running Samsung S8. Aqua Mail is the only email program I use and only 1 email account used in settings. Since recent updates, my app badge counter will show when I have a single message, but if I get any more emails, the badge counter disappears totally. In my drop down windowshade, it will show the correct number of new emails (ex. 6 unread emails), yet no badge matching it. This occurs whether I open app or not for the counter.
I have messed with the setting for ALL UNREAD & NEW UNREAD and get the same results.
Attaching screenshots, counter can be seen at bottom, then disappears when 2nd email comes in

Yes, sth is wrong with it since recent update and it is driving me crazy. I'm not sure if it disappears only for more than 1 unread message, but for most of the time the badge counter is not there, but in notification drawer proper number of unread messages is displayed. I think it is related to the 'New (adaptive) icon on Android 8.0+' which was part of the recent build (at least according to the change log) and it apparently broke some things. Any way to disable this thing as it is not working?
I'm surprised nobody else reported it, I was waiting for the new fix build to pop up in Google Play, but almost a month and nothing, so it is time to make a bug report.
I'm on Samsung Galaxy Note 8 / Android 8.0.
EDIT: Apparently the solution is described in other thread here: https://www.aqua-mail.com/forum/index.php?topic=6567.0 (https://www.aqua-mail.com/forum/index.php?topic=6567.0)
And it was more related to the upgrade to Oreo I did last month than the newest version of the app. Just a coincidence.

Thanks for that thread. I must have overlooked that one when searching them. It does seem to be a fix that works, for now. Will have to watch and see how it does long term now.

I think Aqua Mail should automatically enable this "Smart Watch enhancements" when it detects Samsung phone running Android 8.0+. I guess most people have the same issue and simply don't know how to fix it.

+1
That's, what @Paris Geek has already suggested in one of his recent posts: 8)
@Kostya
Why don't you remove this "smart watch enhancements" setting and set it ON by default?

Yeah, seen the suggestion but:
- "Smart Watch enhancements" on 7.0 makes it so that when a notification is about more than one message - there are no "action buttons" on the whole notification, only on individual messages.
Doesn't have to be that way as far as I'm concerned - but the Designers at Google decided so. Oh well.
- Our notifications have "how many unread messages" in them even when "smart watch notifications" is off. But they're not seen by Samsung's Android 8.0.
Maybe - maybe? - Samsung will fix this?

Meanwhile, I made it so that "unread badge" works for "> 1" unread message even when "smart watch enhancements" are off:
