Hi Folks,
Have Pro Version - Note8 - Android 8 with Oreo 9.
No notifications appearing on Home Page Icon.
Is this fixable ?

Hi Folks - seems Oreo Update coincided with Pro Update ?
Apparently Oreo requires changes/update code or SDK ?

Hello,
Starting with Android 8.0 (Oreo) Samsung completely changed how the “unread badge” feature works. Previously an app could directly set the badge’s value, this is not longer possible. At all.
The “new way” is managed by the phone’s software and its value is automatically taken from the app’s notifications (in the phone’s top bar).
There are two settings to check / adjust before this works.
1 – Phone settings -> Apps -> Aqua Mail -> Notifications -> enable “Show badge”.
This however will only trigger on single-message notification, so you’ll have either nothing or a “1” on the badge.
To make it work for multiple-message notifications, please:
2 – Aqua Mail settings -> message notifications -> enable “Smart Watch enhancements”.
This also changes how on-phone notifications look. You’ll be able to expand (swipe down) on a notification that’s “about” more than one message, turning into individual “cards”, one per message, each with its down action buttons (mark read and so on).
This “enhanced” notification style – which first appeared in Android 7.0 – works with the new Samsung badge feature as expected, even when there are multiple unread messages.
PS – the badge count will clear when the app’s notifications are cleared.
Please let me know if we can assist further.

I made all the settings mentioned but it does not work right again. 1 or more mail comes in and the badge always says 6.

And how many unread messages there are? 6 by any chance?

When a new mail arrives, the number of badges is 6

... And how many unread messages are there actually?
-
the badge is always 6 when there is one or more unread number

Re: the badge is always 6 when there is one or more unread number
What is number in app's notifications - e.g. "2 unread messages", "3 unread messages" etc?
Do you use "smart watch enhancements" on or off in app settings -> message notifications?
Oh - Samsung with Android 8, right?

The problem was solved with the update coming to the phone today. Thank you

I have owned a Samsung Galaxy S9+ since March. Despite checking the settings as described on this forum, I had no notification badges appear on Aquamail homepage icon until yesterday. This event coincided with update patch from Verizon. :)

I have the Samsung Note 8.
Last update (N950USQU4CRF3) was applied June 29, 2018
Aquamail Pro Version: 1.16.0-1193
My badge always show 71 unread messages regardless of how many. I have removed and installed Aquamail. Same issue.

^^^ Same exact issue ("inflated" count = "too large" count) with other apps (on Samsung's 8.0).

I too have just started having the same issue. The unread count always shows 6. I have reviewed my settings to no avail. The only thing I was able to do was add the AquaMail widget in place of the standard icon to give me the correct unread count. In screenshot below the icon is the one with a 6,while the widget (bottom) is the correct count. So you realize that it is a problem caused by Samsung, right?
