@fulvioval:
Aktually AquaMail Pro is "on sale" for 50%.

Any news of it going on sale again anytime soon? I missed the window last time by a day.

Yes we run sales (promotions) regularly - usually they're single day +/- some time to allow for different time zones.
The "main" app posts a notification when there is one.

Any idea when the next one might be?
I would pay $4.99 for such an app but IMO 9.99 is too high. Especially now since the notifications are broken due to the doze situation.
Thanks,
Rich

The notifications are NOT broken due to the doze mode of Android 6+.
To solve any problem, you should have a look into the app's FAQ-page:
[-> search for "App not checking mail"]

Maybe I missed something then because I get notifications every 15 minutes but the instant push notifications for IMAP are not happening for me no matter if push is turned on or not.

POP or IMAP?
Push is enabled for account AND for specific folders?
Mailserver supports Push?
BTW: Push feature works like a charm in AquaMail.

Yes and Yes. Backend server is Zimbra.

Not been my experience since I got my upgraded phone (pixel 2 XL) with doze. I was using k9 mail for quite some time and I started trying other mail clients because of the notification issues then discovered the whole thing about doze mode. Then I began researching this and seen that a lot of developers of mail software were stuck scratching their heads wondering how to deal with push notification without having to use high-priority GCM notifications. As far as I understood it if you didn't use high priority GCM then you would only get notifications every 15 minutes if on a phone that doze is operating. And even whitelisting an app wouldn't allow the notifications to work. Maybe I've been misinformed but I've yet to get it to work with any mail client yet.

If you don't use GCM / push - it depends.
Our push code tries to deal with restrictions of recent Android versions - but a lot depends on how lucky *you* are (the specifics of your mail server and network connectivity).
We use GCM push (Firebase Messaging to be more exact) for Exchange accounts and it works well, without overhead or privacy issues.
But for IMAP - we'd have to make our app "cloud based" - collecting user messages into our cloud and pushing changes from there - and the cloud would have to have access to user's accounts (and messages). We don't have any plans for this.

Will there be a sale on the PRO edition?
-
From time to time.
You could use "App Sales" from Google Play Store to get a notification when AquaMail will offer a special deal:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.tsapps.appsales
As you can see in the screenshot, Aqua Mail Pro was on sale only a few weeks ago.
