Title: How do I get only recent emails, rather than entire contents of email "library"?
Post by: AussieExpat on November 30, 2012, 10:58:14 am
Been trying out several different apps over last couple of weeks, and couldn't find this with any, but there must be something I'm missing.

On setting up a new account, it accesses, and keeps a record of how many emails I have on the server.

For example, if I provide access to an email account that I've had for a few years, it'll record I have several thousand emails (I like keeping things for record purposes -- actually received a lot more but ...)

how do I get info on only, say the last few days -- I thought I had set up the Smart Inbox to only show the last day, but it's showing a lot more than that.

This is the app's normal operation mode, by design.

It loads a limited number of most recent messages, more if you scroll down. The default is 25 per folder, can be changed in the app's settings or per account (Folders and Options), the setting is called "Messages per page".

that may be normal by design, but if you've got thousands of emails, it's mighty annoying,

so is there any way to stop it doing this? to get only the last couple of days emails, instead?

Hi,

The app's default setting is to only download 25 most recent messages, and more if you scroll a message list down.

However:

The main screen will show the actual message count as reported by the server, just so you know they're there.

So for my Gmail account, this is over 100K. But only 25 are downloaded at a time, and as time goes by, only 250 most recent are kept to avoid filling the device's storage.
