Title: Corporate Office 365 Mail - Dual Factor Authentication Not Supported?
Post by: erenoglu on June 03, 2017, 01:23:21 pm
Hi,
I'm a paid user. I was using Outlook but then decided to give AquaMail a try and bought it. But when I'm adding my Office 365 corporate (EWS) email, i get an authentication failed error.
I think this is because AquaMail is not triggering the Dual Factor Authentication. Normally, even Windows Outlook, when logging in, displays a webpage where I enter my email and password, then a new page asks for the SMS code that's sent to my mobile. This lives for 14 days, and after that, the token expires and I'm asked again. (maybe also MS OAUTH2?)

This works with Android Outlook as well, it shows a webpage, I login, asks SMS code, I enter, then it works.

I will now try to create an App Password for AquaMail, but I would really appreciate if it worked without this.

Thanks

Sorry we don't support OAUTH2 for Office 365 (if that's really OAUTH2 behind the MFA, I'm not sure).

Any plans to add this functionality? My employer just enabled it today :(

Sorry still no specific plans - I'll let our Project Manager know.

Also a paid user.

Our company is also forcing MFA authentication. Would enjoy not having to use the MS outlook client for Android   :-\

Thanks!

As Microsoft and also Google are pushing MFA, so please add MFA support into near roadmap.

Re: Google are pushing MFA

We have supported OAUTH2 for Gmail including corporate (custom domain) accounts since 2014, this includes two-factor with an SMS confirmation.

The new "hardware token based MFA for GMail" - is up to Google to make it work through their OAUTH2 APIs (Google Play Services and browser based login) and then it'll also "just work" in Aqua Mail.

Same with us. I have been an Aqua Mail user for many years now.
My organization recently enforced MFA using the Microsoft Authenticator app and now I am no longer able to use Aqua Mail at all :(

Could you please consider this issue as a possible short-term roadmap item, if possible?

P.S: Seems like Microsoft does use OAUTH2 from my preliminary research. Found a development reference on their site to... msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/dn903761(v=exchg.150).aspx

Yes I too stumbled into OAUTH2 docs for Office 365 recently. Thanks.

Update:

I spent a couple of hours on this last Sunday, just to see how far I'd get - and got it to "mostly" work.

And so, we decided that we'll include this feature in the next version - 1.14.

I expect that it'll be part of our 1.14 -dev builds fairly early in the cycle.

Won't happen that soon, but - fairly soon.

Hello,

I am also a premium user with corporate office 365 which turned on MFA. Having to use multiple mail clients is not ideal. Any update as to timeline on a fix being implemented?

Thanks!
Tyler

Where can I find a version that supports Microsoft MFA?
