Very nice update, thank you.
The bug of not always showing the attachment clip of a compacted conversation in Message list view is also fixed.
This proves again that Kostya (and team) is listening to the users and acting quickly to implement needed developments.

Kostya, Thank you ... This looks so much cleaner now without the checkboxes...
I have just spent an hour or so tweaking the settings and I must admit have managed to get back close to where I was pre: v1. 8 - I may have been a little hasty in rolling back.
One further request that is not configurable is that the new Title & Icon bars are significantly larger than before taking up more top/bottom screen space while the icons inside are actually smaller than before (which is fine).
This not only wastes a little valuable screen space Top/Bottom, but also looks dis-proportionate when compared to the icons.
Is there a chance you could slim down the bars slightly?
I would appreciate a response/reply if this can be considered.

Since there are many complaints in Google Play Store ratings about this issue.

The size is defined by Android's Material Design theme, 56dp (in Holo, Android 4 and on 5.0+ before 1.8, it was 48dp).
I'm not sure it's "my" thing either, but it's what a lot of users expect.

Could be one of: "show sent messages" (in the nav drawer's navigation drawer) or app settings -> conversations -> "across messages".

FWIW, "Displays sent by me" only affects how sent messages are *presented* in the smart folder.

I noticed that in the last 2 updates, 1.8.2-203 & 205 - when checkboxes are turned off, you can still select (versus read) the message by touching the far left of the message header (versus long press) - not sure if this is by design or maybe related to when there was "ticks marks" to the far left of the message pre version 203 ...

Hmm... Yes, true, I missed it. Should I remove it or keep the ability to select by touching (seems useful)?

The FAB vs. the action bar? They are how the designers designed them.
Google's guidelines call for an even more drastic difference (their examples use a blue action bar and a pink FAB).

Yes that's exactly what I meant above, the "FAB" (Floating Action Button).

I agree with the guidelines (use different colors for the top bar and FAB) only if these could overlap, but this situation does not exist in AquaMail.
Using the same color looks more harmonious.

Even though I have requested a change here (see link), in line with your request, I think now that it's not so important, since we are able to customize the color in
Settings -> Look and feel -> "Title bar and icon bar color"

Sorry I'm not The Designer.
The action bar color can be changed, the FAB will automatically become same color only a bit darker (it always worked this way).
Maybe (maybe!) will will have a setting for FAB color at some point, but I can't promise.

Because we thought it would be a good idea --
just the same as there are *existing* users who liked the "group by date", there are also those who didn't, and never knew it could be switched off.
There are two sides to this "coin".

I'm sorry, but I'm of the opinion that the developer has no right to change a user's settings via an update, especially if it's a product that the end user paid for.
Make the change available and tell the user about it, but don't take it upon yourself to alter your customers settings.
