Title: User name in account setup
Post by: dgbroodman on September 04, 2016, 06:27:17 pm
When attempting to set up one of my accounts I get persistent "Authentication error. NO Authentication failed" messages.

I suspect this is because Aqua Mail requires a fully formed email address in the format "myname at department.university.edu" whereas the server expects to see simply "myname" as the login.  But if I try to change the "Email" line in setup so that it just says "myname", Aqua Mail gives a red ! with a message "Please enter your email" and will not allow me to proceed further.

Is there a way to get Aqua Mail to accept a simple user name rather than a fully formed email address?

This is for v.1.6.2.9 and Android 6.0

Thanks for any help.  I love the clean design of Aqua Mail and would be grateful to find a workaround for this.

Yes, the logins are pre-filled with your full email, a lot of mail services require this.

To do it the way your mail server requires --

Just tap Manual instead of Next on the screen where you've entered your email and password and you'll see screen with detailed incoming server settings, where you'll be able to change just the login.

Then tap Next to advance to detailed outgoing server settings, and make same change there if necessary.
