Title: Messages Not Received or Received Very Late
Post by: addled on April 06, 2016, 09:46:53 pm
Hi, I'm using Aquamail Pro 1.5.9.14 on an old Samsung S2 on Android build 4.0.0.

The past week Ive been having problems with emails that I send from the S2 either not arriving or arriving really late, like 18 hours or more later.  Also it only seems to be picking up random emails that are sent to me from other sources, even though I get a copy on my desktop immediately.

This also happens if I send an email from my desktop - MS Outlook 2013 - and copy myself in on the email; I get a copy on my desktop almost immediately, but nothing on Aquamail.

Would anyone know how what the problem is and how to resolve it pls?
tks

Hi Paris, thanks for the reply.  Details are;

Scheduled sync - ticked
"Sync all" - ticked
Messages to sync - 5000
Messages to cache - 10000

I don't have anything that mentions IMAP.

tks

Do you use any battery optimizers? Those are known to prevent Aquamail from syncing messages. See. e.g. FAQ (the last item): http://www.aqua-mail.com/?page_id=227 .

As an aside: It is not clear what type of connection to the server you have: POP3 or EWS (since you don't have IMAP), and if it is at one of the major e-mail providers (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.)
While this will not affect your syncing, you would benefit from using IMAP type of connection as opposed to POP3, if it is POP3 and if your provider supports IMAP (most do).
You can read in the same FAQ about the differences.

And while I agree with Paris Geek's suggestions, - I'd suggest to use the frequency of syncing at either 15 or 30 min.

Hi.  I don't used gmail/yahoo etc, I have my own domain and email is setup on imap with the providers settings, much the same as I setup outlook email for example;

mail.mailaccount.com
smtp.mailaccount.com

So what do you see instead of IMAP options?

POP3 options? Exchange options?

POP3, I presume?

Please reduce the "messages to sync" / "messages to cache" as suggested above by Paris Geek.

When you go back to the app's main screen, how many message (counter) are listed next to the account's Inbox?

I guess more than 5000?

PS:

Does your provider support IMAP?

Are you open to switching from POP3 to IMAP in AquaMail and your desktop mail app?

It would be necessary to remove the account (from the apps) and add back, using IMAP settings specifically.
