Title: Preventing background sync from affecting foreground movie playback?
Post by: mi7chy on December 22, 2015, 08:04:29 am
Recently purchased Aqua Mail after using/trying several clients so it's a favorite.  One thing I've noticed though is every 15 minutes when it syncs three accounts, two Yahoo and one Live, with rarely any new email it momentarily pauses foreground MX Player Pro movie playback via BubbleUPnP over 802.11n WLAN.  Confirmed by extending sync to one hour.  This hasn't been an issue with using Gmail prior.  I've looked through settings and see "sync when screen is off" that may help but was hoping for a resolution that doesn't require turning off sync when device is in use and that doesn't require manual user intervention.  Suggestions?

Yes, the app has to do some work when it checks mail, and it takes work just to determine that there are no changes.

And on the other hand, modern Android devices typically have multi-core CPUs running at crazy gigahertz speeds and all that, and Android is a modern multi-tasking operating system.

Is it perhaps the use of the (limited perhaps) network connection? With video playback taking up all the connectivity it can get?

Is Android or your router capable of QoS (quality of service) to give higher priority to video traffic? Myself, I don't know, sorry.
