Title: Android 6.0 Marshmallow - Wifi battery drain issue
Post by: mikeone on November 28, 2015, 04:59:31 pm
For those with the Wi-Fi battery drain bug in Android 6 Marshmallow.

Try this:

1. Go to Settings
2. Search and type in "Scanning"
3. Select the scanning setting
4. Disable both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scanning

This should fix the issue TEMPORARILY.
This issue is up for Google to fix as this had come to every Android Marshmallow device.

On my Nexus 4 running 6.0 both WiFi and Bluetooth scanning have been enabled all along.  No power drain problems at all.  I'll keep am eye on it.

Android since v1.0. Linux since 2001

Nice to know they can add battery draining bugs as fast as they fix them (maybe... I'm referring to the "mobile radio active" bug in 5.0-5.1).

coming up with new twists on battery / background / network management, for app developers to keep busy

('cuz app developers just sit around all day drinking beer, everyone knows that!)
