Title: QQ mail (Tencent) client setting
Post by: PatPat2016 on September 06, 2015, 02:34:43 pm
Spent a few hours research on this, lot of Chinese translation..
I have tried all the variation on configuration (i think..) based on information i found.
pop.qq.com
smtp. qq. com

pop.exmail.qq.com
smtp.exmail.qq.com

hwpop.exmail.qq.com
hwsmtp.exmail.qq.com.  overseas settings?

same variations with IMAP
ex.qq.com  exchange

port variation 995,993
465,587

user name is email address
and password, checked by signing into web mail.

In the web client all options for using IMAP, POP, Exchange are ticked and set.

Use SSL strict, tried others.

So what am I missing?

i have 5 other emails working great, hotmail, live, gmail
Best app i have used on Android by far.

Telepathy not being one of my strengths... Any chance to post the actual error message(s) you're getting in AquaMail?

A debug log (see my signature below) would be even better.

I am able to connect to these from my home computer (using openssl):

imap.qq.com + SSL + 993
smtp.qq.com + SSL + 465

And these too:

imap.exmail.qq.com + SSL + 993
smtp.exmail.qq.com + SSL + 465

Looking at their SSL certs, you may need to use "SSL (accept any)" not "SSL (strict)" (I'm not sure, but it won't hurt, and will rule out one possible cause)

If you're getting login errors, try using just the "leaf" of your email as the login (AquaMail defaults to using "user@domain", so just remove the "@domain" parts in the incoming and outgoing server logins).

Problem solved.Passwords issue.
Although i could log into the QQ software on PC and Android with my default password it seems the email had actually got its own independent password for extra security measures, no idea what that was because account was set up years ago and its near impossible to retrieve with all the security levels the Chinese run on there security center.
But i found a place where you could change the password in the QQ web mail interface.
Just had to enter my new password twice, which i used the orginal password i have always used.
Set the account up in Aqua mail,  default settings it offers you and bingo!
Works perfectly.
Thanks for finding that chinese lline in the log file, the translation pointed me in the right direction.
Great mail program, best i have ever used, too much trash out there and well worth the Pro key.
Pat out.
😍

Got the same issue, haven't got individual password activated in settings.

You can change your password in the account settings:
> go to App's main window (account list view) > long press on Account name > Account setup

Sorry, but this is nothing where AquaMail could be of help...

I recommend to ask the helpteam from QQ as your web mail provider.

I just showed how it's done.
And it's relevant here because that only needs doing when you using third party email clients  which this is.
Also QQ support is mainly in Chinese so is a nightmare to navigat.
Also you just posted how its done in Gmail.
Not Aqua mail..
So people supporting each other is the way to go.
No idea why you would come back with that after the answer posted..

Sorry for that.  8)

However, my previous post was showing how to set / change your log-in data in AquaMail, (account settings) not in Gmail:

Even the screenshot is from AquaMail....

But I do not have independent password activated.
I would need phone verification activated for that, and I do not have it activated.
How?
