Title: 1.5.0.25.1
Post by: Kostya Vasilyev on October 24, 2014, 11:13:57 pm
http://www.aqua-mail.com/download/AquaMail-market-1.5.0.25.1.apk

---

+ Fixed occasional crash in Android code when pasting text in the compose window.

Will merge this into 1.5.1 and post (including Play) a little later.

---

+ Исправил возможный вылет в коде Андроида при вставке текста на экране редактирования сообщений.

Чуть позже солью код с веткой 1.5.1 и выложу, в том числе в Play как "бету".

[/img]I am facing a typical  problem.  When I select a text to format in upper part of mail body while composing,  the copy, paste menu pops up and it covers the formatting bar.  Then I can not select format options like bold,  color etc.  I am attaching the screen shot.  Any way to workaroung this?

As Android leaves Google's factories, those cut/copy/paste buttons looks like in Paris Geek's screenshots.

Some manufacturers make "improvements" here though -- is your new phone an HTC or an LG?

My phone is HTC E8, I think HTC. "improvement"  has made it bit difficult for me

I thought it was an HTC. LG does it too (I have a G3, also a popup, but with text labels, not icons).

Any suggestions?

Suppose I could move the format bar to the bottom -- but then the icons would need to be forced to the top (currently there is an user setting) -- which would mean losing "add attachment", "show cc/bcc" and some other icons.

My suggestion is to move the format bar to the top above the recipient line.
... maybe only for HTC  / LG devices

No, the format bar needs to be next to the edit area -- since that's what it "belongs to".

Having a setting to move it below -- is the only way I can think of to get around those "enhancements" by HTC and LG.

There are days when I don't like Android too much :)

For me it's no issue if the format bar will be on the top — already next to the edit area.

@mikeone -- looks like you've already done it? :)

Will you post a new build? :)

>> Here's how k@mail resolved the issue

Yes, wonderful-- but you don't have an HTC / LG phone that does that silly thing.

Does the format bar in K@mail float? Is it always pinned to the bottom (with scrolling "behind" it)?

What if you scroll the edit area so that its selection / cursor point is right behind ("under") the format bar?

Mikeone, that was a drawing.

I know, that it was a drawing   8)

However I prefer if the format bar appears on the top.  I expect it rather there than on the bottom.

So in k@mail -- it's possible for the selection point in the editor to end up "behind" the format bar? And not visible?

There must be days when the k@mail guy(s) and gal(s) also don't like Android so much :)

I am doing now what Paris suggested in first place,  adding extra blank line and formatting and then removing extra blank line,  but with great displeasure.  Second option could be make format Placement user defined,  either at bottom or vartical on right.
If it is too much to do,  and disturbing well established habit of all other users,  I will happily continue to perform my "unhappy"  formatting as adding blank line and removing.  But thanks a lot for discussing this at quite length.

If we ever consider vartical format  line,  it could  be Configured to roll  down by an extra click or swipe,  this suggestion is just thinking ,  it may save screen space when the formatting is not needed.  Of course,  if this is as easy to implement as writing this suggestion

Dear Paris,  it is the same problem in blue mail.  So this is something related to how HTC ONE  behaves

And in htc  it does not disappear,  htc like me to cut copy paste rather than format

No when I select cut or copy,  the Selection disappears immediately

And it does not leave text selected.  I tried that before posting issue here

Stock mail does not have rich text formatting
Title: Re: 1.5.0.25.1

As such,  I can live with this,  as first line is generally salutation   we we generally format   if some time first line needs to be formatted,  I would keep first two lines blank

In my opinion it could be the best solution if Kostya could implement a specific setting with which the user can select where the format bar should appear: on the top of the edit area (stays where it is now) or on the bottom (could be default for HTC devices).

No it's not too much - it's just that I'm in the middle of something right now (OAUTH), but I've written it down.

Especially since I have two phones on my desk that both do this -- an HTC and an LG.

>>  it is the same problem in blue mail.  So this is something related to how HTC ONE  behaves

I guess even after @ParisGeek and @mike one posted screenshots of how it works without HTC's or LG's "improvements" --

-- it was still tempting to think "oh, it's that AquaMail app doing something weird", huh? :)

I never thought from beginning that it was aquamail problem.  As I have both samsung and htc and it is HTC only having this issue.  And thanks kotsya for noting it down
