Title: Unread button
Post by: Gnopps on April 22, 2014, 04:41:03 pm
I often need to mark a mail as unread after having read it. I do this (in message view) by pressing menu and then "Mark as unread". Personally, I'd prefer to have an icon in the bottom navigation to mark as unread (for example instead of the navigation arrows as I slide to switch message).

Go to App Settings, Message view. You can "Customize the buttons" in the message view.

Go to "Message View" settings
Click on "Customize the buttons", then select buttons you wish.
Be sure to install latest build
If, after checking - and rechecking - you still have an issue, please post screenshots to be able to help you.

Chantoine,

I suppose that your option list is truncated due to your screen size. With your finger, drag the list, you should see "Mark unread"

PS. Unable to reproduce your screen. Tested with several devices, Android 4.0, 4.3, 4.4, all show "Mark unread"
Screeshot: Nexus 4

Curious. What is your Android version? Looks like a bug...

Bizarre...
On GNote2, Xperia S, Nexus 4, all official roms, I am able to select «Mark unread»

Maybe it's because you upgraded with all development builds ? The last one may be faulty on this point... I've an old Android device, i can try 1st with last build, an then install all development builds following official release ?

From scratch. Remove AquaMail app completely, then install it from Play Store and update it with last build. Keep standard AquaMail settings, and post screenshots.
Are you using Pro version?

Yes, pro version. I'll start from scratch   with my old device, and post results here...

Ok just started from scratch with my Orange Hi 4g (ZTE-Blade Apex 2) in Android 4.4.2. Uninstalled. Installed Play Store version, then last build, one account set... and still no "unread" option. Tried with 1.3.26 (.0), still the same. I could try upgrading with all subsequent development builds...

Next step, i'll try the same with my old device...

I'm using version 1.3.26 (pro) and don't have the unread button option, this is on both HTC One S and Z2 tablet.

Chantoine,
When I test with modifying the delay before a message is marked read (message view settings, mark as read), I realize that the «mark unread» button does not appear in the message view anymore (it is still found in option list, but disappears from the message screen).
My conclusion is that you must have something in your settings - account, device, specific settings - that disturbs the regular behavior of AquaMail. Or this is a bug...

What is your setting for this delay ? Mine is "immediately" I already tried to change it and see if i got unread button, and saw no difference...

For my tests "from scratch" with 2 mobiles (4.4.2 and 2.3.7), i've set up only one account, imap, leaving ALL options "stock". I can't figure what could disturb the regular behavior of AquaMail, sorry...

....neither do I.

Let's wait for the developer answer.

Ok !

Anyway, thanks again for trying sorting this out !

After many tests conducted this raining Saturday in Paris, it seems that AquaMail's behavior (settings, screens, etc.) is dependent on Android versions.

This is particularly true:

- in our discussion above: "Mark unread" does not show in all Android versions and/or all devices)

- in "zoom + -" button appearing or not in settings and screens

- maybe in message viewing
etc.

Please Kostya, give us more explanations related to the fact that screens and behavior can be different from one Android version to another...

You've got to install last development build.

There's a topic where you can download it.

I'd find it. I'm going to install it.
Thanks.

EDIT.
I'd installed it... but I haven't the option for the button of "mark unread" neither.

Depends on Android version AND device.
Just wait patiently for developer feedback.

Really depends on Android version and your device. Works fine with Nexus 4 (Android 4.4.2), but not with Nexus 5 (same Android version)...

With 1.3.26.33 I have also "unread button".
Anyway I thought we were talking about otherwise: a "read button".  :-[ :-[
I have AM configured for "never" mark as read an email. Therefore I'd like to have a "read button".
But that will be another feature request, I guess. ::)

Thanks anyway, great job.

EDIT:
I just saw that in the messages list, when I select a message, a button appears: "mark as read" if the message is unread, and "mark as unread" if the message is read. And both of them if I select a message read and another unread.
That would be perfect for the window message.
