I installed 1.3.24.1 (from the latest Google Play version) today.
On XT-907 (Droid Razr M), in portrait mode, it is now hard to select (check-mark) the messages:
Because of the disappearing side bar, the area of where one can check-mark has narrowed down, so when you are trying to check-mark the message, you either bring out the side bar or open the message.

I hope you can fix this in the next build.
I would expect that if the "check-mark" area is widened just a bit that would help.

@StR -- the size of the sensitive area has not changed (in 1.3.2* cf. 1.3.8 in Play).

The navigation drawer could affect it though -- a certain amount of horizontal finger movement is ignored, but not too much.

I feel that making a "dead" (with the respect to the nav drawer) area on the left side would be non-intuitive.

I understand that the sensitive area has not changed. It's indeed that the navigation drawer (what I called the "side bar" is now using some of the space).
It is critical for the first message on top of the list. For the rest of the messages it is not an issue.

I am not sure if my suggestion was clear: what I proposed is to broaden the portion of that line which would respond to the check-mark rather then respond to tapping on the message itself. Since the message information are is broad enough, it would not be an issue, but it would simplify check-marking that first message.

This is just a suggestion for what can be done. You may choose a different solution - but something needs to be done.
Otherwise, check-marking a message takes up to 4-6 attempts that include opening the message, going back, and trying again.

Ok. What is it that makes the first item different?

The area is the same, in the horizontal direction, for the first message vs. all others.

Maybe if you could expand on that a bit, I'd be able to understand.

I actually have gotten feedback in the past about the touch to select area being too wide. There is no accounting for tastes, you know.
