Title: 1.3.23

http://www.aqua-mail.com/download/AquaMail-market-1.3.23.1.apk

^^^ Updated German, French, Italian translations / обновленные переводы на немецкий, итальянский, французский.

So I got a little sidetracked (hopefully for a good cause).

+ IMAP: sync by time period (X days, as opposed to N messages). Per-account options and folders -> account options -> messages to sync.

This works with mail servers / accounts where messages are not sorted by date (on the server).

Not supposed to happen, but it does, and then it can be very difficult to get to the newest messages. This setting resolves the issue.

The "messages per page" setting has been renamed to "messages to sync" to better convey the meaning.

I should be back tomorrow to catch up.

Надеюсь "вернуться" завтра чтобы прочитать и ответить на новые сообщения.

Hello Kostya.
Glad to see you back with news. I hope your health problems are gone.
Limit messages to sync by period rather than by number is a great idea.
And if you had the opportunity to consider to insert images into the body of a message like as attachment...
Thanks and have a speedy recovery.

The "images" thing is still my number of task, but I've not been able to even get started.... so worked on something relatively trivial instead (better than doing nothing).

I'm not fully recovered yet, but things are not as bad as they'd been for the last few months.

Hopefully as the situation continues to improve, I'm able to work on images (and other stuff), stumbling towards the next official release.

Italian translation, I cannot find the menu to understand what "showing" means  :-\

Grazie!

The "showing" means "right now the message list is showing this many days".

But since Italian is quite verbose, can I shorten it to "Carica %1$d giorni in più (%2$d)" ? Removing the "showing" part so it's just a number?

It's what I had to do with Russian (also a verbose language)

I'd like to change "Messaggi per pagina" (message per page) to "Messages to sync" ("Sync this many messages"). Can you help with this too please?

very good, you can show number only or add (totale %2$d) if you have space...

Does "totale" or "in totale" mean "this is what is showing right now" (good) as opposed to "total number of messages in the account" (bad)?

Doesn't sound like good German to me.
There is no such thing as "Synchronisationsperiode"
;-)
I think my translation is good the way it is.
I refined it to
<string name="prefs_sync_strategy_large_warning">Größere Synchbereiche können Batterieverbrauch und Datenvolumen erhöhen. </string>
It's a little bit more elegant that way :-)

@Paris Geek - I've updated the build, same URL.

@Fcasoli - Looks ok, what's it called? And what in the world is "Smart Inbox"?

Seriously, what is Italian for "Smart Folder"? I'd like to match the English version (since it's possible to include sent messages there).

Hi, in italian some words are not translatable without losing meaning, Inbox is "Posta in arrivo", I do not find a nice solution, Smart Inbox can remain, for me...

Posta unificata

I think Kostya can replace with this definition, thanks Paris!

Too bad, that you used

<string name="prefs_sync_strategy_large_warning"> Eine große Synchronisationsperiode, kann hohen Batterie-und Datenvolumen Verbrauch verursachen </string>

as the final version for the toast.

It's simply the worst German you could actually chose.
It is grammatically wrong (the colon is misplaced, "Verbrauch" can not be a separate word, after having started with "Batterie-" and "Period"  can not used with "Synchronisation", because it doesn't make sense.

Anyway - your app, your choice ;-)
Title: Re: 1.3.23

Anyway - your app, your choice ;-)

Well, it's not really a "choice" that I can make consciously -- since I only know "Guten morgen" (and "Einstellungen" -- I love that word, it sounds so important compared to "Settings").

So -- how am I supposed to choose between two competing translations that both look Greek to me? :)

This is a real question, and I'm serious. This type of thing has come up before with German, and also French.

Even if the version from dirkliesenfeld is not really 100% good (sorry but my translation wouldn't be better),
the current translation is absolutley bad german.

Ok, so it's two votes to one, that helps.

Changed to "Größere Synchbereiche können Batterieverbrauch und Datenvolumen erhöhen" (dirk's refined version)

Great program, even better support!

With this version, I notice that occasionally when I open the program at the message list the list of emails does not show up- the screen is blank.  I have to exit the program and then reopen, then it shows the emails. This probably happens every fourth or fifth time I open the program. This is with Gmail (imap) and a pop account.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the tip, but that's a workaround to a problem and I was hoping for a fix. The issue is new to this version, so something changed. I realize this is a development build, but wanted to make Kostya aware of the issue.
Title: Re: 1.3.23
Post by: Kostya Vasilyev on March 27, 2014, 11:36:12 pm
@stevealb, @nefast --

I've never noticed that, so could you clarify? How do you open those message lists?

From the main window (account list) by tapping a folder? Launching the app from a widget that points to a folder?

Does the message list never load at all (if you wait, say 15-30 seconds)?

Can you try Menu -> Compact the message store in the main window, to optimize the database, abd see if this fixes it?
Title: Re: 1.3.23
Post by: stevealb on March 28, 2014, 02:46:37 am
Hi Kostya,

I load the message list directly from a widget. It never loads even if I wait  30 seconds. If I tilt to landscape and then back to portrait the message list populates with the emails. Or I can exit the program and then reopen. I already compacted the database a few times figuring that might be it, but it still happens.
Title: Re: 1.3.23
Post by: Kostya Vasilyev on March 28, 2014, 04:30:19 pm
Thanks.

Obviously this is a serious issue, and I'm very interested in finding the cause and fixing it, but so far, I'm unable to reproduce (and I'm trying).

What state do you leave the app in -- prior to relaunching from the widget? I.e. exited all the way, with Back, or just put into background with Home? Does it seem to happen if some time passes in between (say, more than a half hour)?

What's the device's Android version?

Can you try this newer build:

http://www.aqua-mail.com/download/AquaMail-market-1.3.25.apk

And an older one, let's say:

http://www.aqua-mail.com/download/AquaMail-market-1.3.21.apk
Title: Re: 1.3.23
Post by: stevealb on March 28, 2014, 06:04:41 pm
It worked fine with the older version but started with 1.3.23

I exit by using the back button always. Additionally, it usually only happens after time out of the program. It's intermittent and I can't seem to establish a pattern. I just loaded 1.3.25 so let's see what happens.

Just happened on the new update 1.3.25. No messages in the message list until I tilted the phone to landscape and then back to portrait.  Had just viewed email about 10 minutes prior.

Can you guys try this newer build?

This build also has debug code: if/when the issue happens again, there may be a floating message in the middle of the screen saying "Message list layout error: width = x, height = y". Please let me know if you see that, and whether the actual values for width and height are zeroes.
