Title: activesync
Post by: shawn on March 12, 2014, 02:04:24 am
Hello, my name is Shawn. I recently installed aqua mail on my galaxy note 3 and i have to say i love this app especially the fullscreen feature and the overall interface is nice too. However, there is just one thing that i really wish you can add to this great app if it's possible. The activesync. As an android user who recently switched from iphone, I have to admit that i am spoiled by push option in their stock email client. i wasn't sure why android's pop3 and imap isn't as fast as iphone until i recently found out that android also can support instant push feature through exchange activesync. so I was wondering if there is anyway i can setup aqua mail to use push ( i tried everything without success so far) or somehow you can add an option to configure it with exchange activesync? if not are you planning on adding this? i know you already mentioned that you have no plan to add in the previous comment. I really hope there is way for me to stay with aqua mail than my stock note 3 email client ( since it supports exchange activesync) that looks as boring as regular hotmail interface. Any reply would be greatly appreciated. ^^

There is not, and will not be, support for ActiveSync because of its complicated licensing logistics.

Device manufacturers typically have the necessary licenses from MS (it's much easier for Samsung or Sony, compared to one guy in a suburb of Moscow).

I've chosen EWS, which is pretty much equivalent in terms of access to Exchange features.

Have not done push for Exchange yet, but do plan to do more work on it (including investigating push).

Hi Kostya,
Thanks, I'm also interested in Activesync. Our corporate (60.000 people) mail server has EWS enabled when we are in the intranet, but outside of company, only Activesync is enabled due to policy enforcements. So for the moment, I'm using other clients that support ACtivesync, although I would buy Aquamail anytime if it had Activesync.

I guess there are other users in my situation.

PS. for corporate use, I would also need calendar sync and at least GAL search from People app.

I use Aqua-mail for my "comcast" mail, since I don't like their app, and I don't like anybody's "combined" email, but I use Nine Exchange ActiveSync for my exchange.. Well - I use the stock email also - but I have two different exchange accounts, and since I don't like the combined, I used the stock app for one and Nine mail for the other.. I like it - there are a lot of tweaks you can do with it.. it's made to look like GMail app, which I hate w/all the colored markings, but you can turn all that off - and have it look more "professional!"
