Title: Android 4.4: swiping the app away from "recent apps" kills push mail
Post by: Kostya Vasilyev on December 28, 2013, 12:12:53 am
Android 4.4 has a bug:

Swiping an app away from the "recent apps" list kills the app's process and all background work that the app is doing.

If the app had a notification icon, it will stay stuck in the status bar, giving the appearance that the app is still running ("adding insult to injury").

This is a change in 4.4, and I believe it's a bug (as opposed to an unexpected, but intentional change) because the status bar icon stays there.

So, if you use push mail, do not ("I repeat, do not") swipe AquaMail away from the recent tasks list.

Please refer to this discussion for further info:

Being an Android bug, it has to be fixed by Google.

If you have installed Xposed, download module Kitkat bugs fixer. It fixes this bug.

Has this bug been fixed in the past 7 years?
I believe that this is a mistake of the Aquamail application, since swiping Whatapp, Telegram and many other applications in the background does not stop push notifications.
If fixed, in which version of the application?

Android 10.

There should be no issues with push notifications since several years, even if the app is 'in the background'.

Hi Nedialko,

No, I have not had any problems with IMAP push feature for many years now.

Best regards
