Title: Refugee from Kaiten with Questions
Post by: rochrunner on November 27, 2013, 05:33:42 pm
I've been using Kaiten Mail for several years but am now fed up with it. First, there was a bug specific to my Asus Transformer tablet and the tech support response was to say they don't support that device (huh?). Then I got a new Nexus 5 with Android 4.4 and there's a bug that hides the top part of a message that still hasn't been fixed. So I have gone to Aqua Mail and so far it does everything I need.

One question: Kaiten had an option to only download message headers, or at least it would only download a portion of a long message and give me the option to "download rest of message". Does Aqua Mail work in a similar way? I really don't want it to automatically download multi-megabyte messages that are only of use to me when I read them on my PC.

Welcome!

I left Kaiten some time ago when the developer started testing new features on the Google Play product. One day it worked the other not and he didn't fix things for weeks. As I use the mail for work, it's vital and got fed up with that kind of treatment. Found AquaMail after looking for other mail products and tested MailDroid. The developer is really responsive and the application is quite good. The first thing decided me on going Pro and started to recommend to fiends and coworkers. Most people have the same need as us. A simple, yet useful mail client that is well supported.

Yes, go to settings on the accounts screen and then to network. There you will have settings for mobile and WiFi networks. You can set to download only headers if you want.
