Finally enabled by default since 1.4.0.53, when setting up new accounts.
To switch from POP3 -- remove the account from Aqua, and add back in automatic mode, entering just your name / email / password. No reason to mess with settings in Manual setup mode anymore.
Made possible by two things fixed by Microsoft: they added the UIDPLUS extension and fixed "SEARCH by Message-ID". Both have to do with moving messages between folders.
Please change one setting too (I didn't include it in app itself, sorry):
Hotmail's outgoing server automatically saves sent messages, and this causes duplicates (one saved by Hotmail, the other saved and uploaded by Aqua).
Long press the just added Hotmail account -> options and folders -> composing and sending -> turn off "Save sent".
Now sent messages will be *downloaded from* Hotmail *to* AquaMail -- not *uploaded* into Hotmail *from* AquaMail, including messages sent by Aqua.

I tried to set it up but it doesnt work:(
I have checked many times my settings but nothing... i canr connect to outlook.com with imap:(
anybody had luck?

IMHO there is no hotmail or outlool.com IMAP!

There is since September 12.
http://blogs.office.com/b/microsoft-outlook/archive/2013/09/12/outlook-com-now-with-imap.aspx
I have tried it.
Two server side issue, reported by others besides me on the above page.
- The server fails to return plain text content, AquaMail has a workaround that can deal with it.
- Moving a message to another folder (including server side Deleted) is 1) inefficient 2) results in the moved message getting fully reloaded on next mail check.
MS is aware of both of these.
It also seems noticeably slower than Gmail (which is not the fastest IMAP service out there either).
But, access to folders works, and so does unread/starred flag sync.

I didnt update aquamqil or even didnt change anything for 1,5 week and noticed today that outlook imap start working! I think that outlook team is working on imap.

outlook.com imap is very unstable.... now againg is unreachable for 2 days... :(
We must wait long time i think when it will be good enough to use it...

They fixed one issue, for which AquaMail already had a workaround: the server failing to return text/plain messages.
Now if they fixed server side search not finding any messages by their RFC822 Message-ID, that would be great.
Implementing UIDPLUS would be even better.

Sorry for jumping in here late, but has anyone tried using Outlook's IMAP lately? I just joined this forum and saw another thread about IMAP on Outlook.com, so I set it up and it seems to work OK. So does the problems that were reported back in September still exist or have they been corrected by the Outlook team?

I just checked:
1 - Russian characters in attachment name getting garbled -- fixed.
I mention it because it may affect other non-ASCII characters (e.g. Spanish, Western European languages, etc.)
New bug: the size of such attachments is not reported by the server (the size is 0). AquaMail still fetches them just fine.
2 - When moving messages between folders, the server still can't locate a moved message in the destination folder.
AquaMail deals with this fine, the moved message gets deleted in the app and then reloaded from the server.

Anyone with an Outlook.com account, feel free to chime in with a "me too" :)

Great looking app with awesome user controls, but no IMAP push? The control is grayed out with comment "not available with this server". So you're saying push is available with POP but not IMAP? The problem with POP is no subfolders, eh. Back to the dull Outlook app I guess. Please let me know if you can ever provide folders in POP or push in IMAP and I will be back. Really nice app...
Keep up the good work!

POP3 does not have push mail, period.
IMAP has push mail capability, but it's an optional part of the spec.
Microsoft's IMAP server behind Outlook.com does not support this optional capability.
