Title: emails not fully downloaded
Post by: Eric on September 18, 2013, 11:04:09 pm
I am using the free version 1.2.5.5 on an Android tablet and most of my incoming emails report that they cannot be fully downloaded  and are missing from the server. One was only 15Kb and had this error. However some emails are OK. I have read that there is a setting called "extended mode" which may address this but I cannot find it in the Settings page of the app. An idiot's guide to finding it would be gratefully received together with advice on curing the error please.

Extended mode is no more, all settings have been reorganized into categories.

( btw, where did you see it? I'm sure that it's no longer mentioned in the FAQ, only in older messages on the forum maybe... )

Is this POP3 or IMAP?

Can you capture the issue in a debug log, with session data enabled?

Thanks for your reply.

I am a novice on Android tablets and Aqua Mail is the only client that comes near to what I want. The included email app will not accept outgoing server 25 but reverts to 587. AM is OK in that respect.

I read about extended mode on the forum. I now know that it's obsolete.

I am using POP3 because that is required by my ISP.

I now need to discover how to access the memory on my tablet (I have no SD card on it yet).

When I find that out I will do as you ask. No connection shows up on my Windows PC of course.

The problem seems to be iintermittent but all today's messages are truncated.

I still do not know how to access the memory on my tablet (no external card) so I cannot send a crash report.

Yesterday the first 5 emails arrived with no problem but then 3 failed to arrive at all. Deleting my account and setting up again resulted in one of the 3 arriving OK.

Today 4 have arrived OK with no know failures at the moment. I am keeping a log of performance.

My connection strength is excellent.

Does all this suggest a fault to anyone?.

Yes, it definitely seems that something is wrong.

Recommendations:

- AquaMail settings -> network -> increase the "load when checking mail" to something like 64Kb under both WiFi and mobile (if applies)

- For the log, and access to the "memory card" (which is typically not a real memory card on tablets, but rather built-in memory), please install a file manager. One of my faves is ES Explorer, free in Google Play.
