I purchased Apex Launcher Pro, with the hope that new Email would be automatically pushed to the Aqua Mail counter - I'm not receiving new Email notifications, unless I hit the refresh button on the bottom of the Aqua Mail page.
Has this issue been addressed, or do you have a solution for this?
Thanks!

I'm sorry to have to report that Apex does not work with Aqua Mail - I did download the app, but, new email notification still doesn't work.
It would be a tremendous help if Aqua mail indicated when new mail arrives by showing a numerical number on the icon.
-
You do know about the AquaMail :counters widget which displays the number of new emails and, optionally, the total amount of emails in the inbox? I use the widget to launch AquaMail instead of the icon (even though the icon does display the number of new emails in Nova Launcher).

Hi,
I see two questions here:
1 - My app not checking mail in the background. Please see your device's system settings, under Accounts and Sync. Most devices have a "switch" there that forces off all background syncing. Please check. Alternatively, see my app's settings, under Receiving mail, and change "System settings" to last option, "... even when background data is off".
2 - The unread number not showing on the icon. Please check that you've enabled "External notifiers" in Apex Pro settings (this is under Advanced settings in Apex).
Also, IIRC, Apex Launcher has to be installed first, and my app after it -- so that my app can acquire the permission to send counter updates to Apex (the author of Apex set it up that way, if you think it's a hassle, please tell him).

Not true, I have Apex Launcher Pro and My Aqua Mail icon (not the widget) does indeed have a numerical counter when new mail arrives. You need the external notifier app from the developers of Apex, then switch it on in Apex Pro and then select Aqua Mail from the list that appears under Email App.
Too Easy!

No, do not, I repeat do not select AguaMail from the list that appears a under Email App. Leave it as it is.
Only select External Notification on Apex Settings / Notification.
Info:
AquaMail sends unread count to Apex; so there is no need for other configuration in Apex. If you select AquaMail in the list below Email App, Apex tries to get this information for itself as it does with K9, Gmail, etc. This conflicts with the notification AquaAmil sends by it self.
That's it.
Yes you need the Apex notifier add on.
Send from my Mars Rover! Don't know how to get back to earth!

Well, until I selected AquaMail as the email app I wasn't getting the count on the icon, once selected it worked, doesn't seem to be any other issues by doing this.
Cheers

My app has native support for Apex's unread count overlay.
You don't even need to install Apex Notifier, in fact, their Play description says that, too:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anddoes.notifier&hl=en
• You do not need this extension for Aqua Mail. Just turn on external notifiers in Apex Launcher Pro, and you will see the unread count badge.

Ups, did not saw that in the discription :)

I have apex notifier pro and the paid version of aquamail.
I have turned on external notifications and I am still not getting a badge.
I am on an HTC One.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Should work.
Do NOT set in the Email App configuration in Apex the AquaMail app.
-
Nope. Email is set to stock HTC Sense mail. Still not working. Wierd.
-
Have you installed the Apex notifier add-on? Not sure if it is needed, i have it installed.
Also i think you must install AquaMail after the Apex Notifier plugin, as AquaMail will ask for rights to send Apex the account of unread messages during install procedure.
-
No plug-ins needed, just Apex Pro, and you need to enable "external notifiers" in its Advanced (or Extended?) settings.
AquaMail needs to be installed *after* Apex itself (the base app), so it can get the right permissions. This is how the author of Apex set it up -- Nova does not have this requirement.
Not sure if the setting to use HTC Mail can interfere... It should not, but just in case, I'd try temporarily switching that off too.

I do not get the new e-mail notification on the locked screen (Galaxy s3) but after unlocking it, I do see the number on the Aqua Mail Icon.
Any thoughts would be appreciated

Not sure what the lock screen has to do with AquaMail. I push the counts to Apex, and where they're used is up to them.
You might want to consult the developers of Apex, but as far as I know, the lock screen is a separate piece of "real estate", and can only be accessed in a documented way since Android 4.2.
So if you have 4.2+, consider installing DashClock widget (free in Google Play), and grabbing a recent development build of AquaMail from this forum (support added a while ago, but not released to Play yet).
For earlier Android versions, consider Nova Launcher + Tesla Unread, which use various undocumented hacks to add themselves to the lock screen. My app has native support for this combo, too.

When my Galaxy S3 is lock, the Aqua Mail icon is the bottom of the screen.
When I get email, I get the indicator light, the sound notification....
I hit the HOME button at bottom, the lock screen comes up, but there is NO indication of a new email.
However, when I swipe the screen to unlock, there is the AquaMail Icon and a new notification of new email.
How come not on both???
Thank you

Because the unread count overlay is not a standard Android feature.
My app works with Apex and Nova, by sending its unread counts into these launchers.
What they do with the unread count -- where they draw it, how they draw it -- is up to those launchers.
Please direct your question at the developers of Apex / Nova.
