Title: Send as multiple accounts from gmail
Post by: smartplayer on April 13, 2013, 03:04:44 am
So my gmail is setup so i can send email from multiple other email accounts.

So i can send email from my gmail account and act like i am sending from my uni email or hotmail.

This works fine in the gmail android app but doesn't seem to be working in aqua mail.

I need to use so many other email accounts but they are already set up to forward their emails to my gmail.

Is this a lacking feature or can i enable it?

Yes, this is supported. Gmail calls these "aliases", in my app it's "identities".

Long press an account, choose Identities to set them up. Specifically for Gmail, if those are also added on Gmail's web site, you should be able to send through Gmail's outgoing server (you'll see a checkbox for this when configuring a new identity).

I recommend setting up your aliases (on Gmail web site) without the "Treat as alias" setting:

It says the free version doesn't support identities but the pro version is $5 and costs too much for me :( maybe I could afford it if it was $2.. While I have you here, is there a swipe to delete feature? It is really convenient I hope you add the feature in the future.

Yes, it is a paid version feature.

Sorry, no swipe to delete at this time.

but unfortunately ninth given data is correct always gives me error.
then how can I set up an account with an imap server and use a smtp server of gmail.com?

For Gmail's SMTP server to accept a message From another email, it *has* to be configured on Gmail's web site first.

Without it, the different From address looks to Gmail like an attempt at identity forgery.

Once that's done, you should be able to add the identity in my app without configuring a separate outgoing server for it. It will just use the parent account's outgoing server (smtp.gmail.com, which should now accept the message).
