+ Contact images in message list (Android 3.0+, off by default).
+ Stars in message list now optional (Settings / Message list).
Less likely to run into "Too many simultaneous connections" with Gmail in push mode (yes, they changed something on their side...)
Yahoo server side search works again (yes, they broke it on their side... read into a buffer, then parse what you've got, please... Marissa, will you tell your engineers?)
The POP3 fix I made for IncrediMail in 1.2.3.8 also resolves other issues with attachments or the correct parsing of messages into parts (text, image, etc.) that the 1.2.3.4 sometimes has.

German-Translation:
Stars / Show per...
Sterne / Zeige Stern-Markierungen der Nachrichten
Contact images / Show sender
Kontaktbilder / Zeige Bilder der Kontakte
And a typo:
Benutze Mobile Ansicht"
should be
Benutze mobile Ansicht
The Contact images are nice, but could you pleaaaase add the option to automatically download attachements on gprs/edge? I am really desperately waiting for that. I don't want to go back to Kaiten, but I really do need that option! :-\
-
Dirk,
Thank you for the translations, they are always useful.
I remember about your suggestion, so don't switch yet.
My plan is to make a release to Google Play today, and I'm hoping to work on the preload for slower mobile connections tomorrow.
-
Yay - great ;D
You made my day...
I understand that you didn't implement that option, because you didn't want to cause Aquamail to drain the battery in case the gprs or edge connection is too unstable. One idea might be some sort of time-out.
Like 3 options:
o [optionbox] automatically download attatchments up to (e.g.) 2 MB [valuebox] over edge/gprs
o [optionbox] but cancel download if connection is below (e.g.) 20 kbit/s [valuebox] for (e.g.) 60 [valuebox] seconds
o [optionbox] in case of a canceled download, retry with the next scheduled sync (e.g.) 5 [valuebox] times
That way every user can make his own choice. I would also keep gprs download disabled as default and pop up a warning, if someone activates it. Something about the risk of thermonuclear war in case of unstable connections and what not. ;)
Just an idea - if it is to complicated, I can live without it ;-)
Btw.: If you want to, you can always send me new language-strings before you release any new versions and I can send you the german translation right away, so it gets implemented right into the first version.
You already have my Emailaddress, right?
Love,
Dirk.

Dirk,
Yes, that's the reason, I don't really want to deal with "help, your app killed my battery, and I could not call 911 when an elephant ripped my arm off".
I'm going to implement a separate setting, which will default to "no preload", but will do it separately from the next public release, so as to not break something.
-
And just out of curiosity -- I guess you live in Germany, is mobile 3G not common there? Or is it very expensive?
I live near, but not in, Moscow, and there is 3G / HSDPA coverage all around... My data plans is 3 MBit/s, up to 3 Gbyte per month, for about 10 EUR a month, just to give an example of the prices.
-
Hey Kostya,
in Germany everything is very expensive.
To get a reasonable mobile plan, you have to pay between 30 and 60 Euros per month.
Coverage - especially in the rural areas is sometimes miserable. Where I live (the former german democratic republic), it is mostly edge and sometimes only gprs for miles!! In the cities you usually have 3G/Hsdpa+, but even there it is sometimes very slow because the cells are overcrowded. When I am in Berlin, especially in public places like Alexanderplatz, I sometimes switch off 3G, because of dropping out of the data-net to often.
Sucks big time!
That's why I need this option so badly ;-)

Hehe. elephant... ;D
So 1.2.3.15 will have that option? *hope and pray* ::)
As soon as it's in the Dev-Builds, I will test it and give you feedback. Wouldn't want you to break your wonderful app :-\
-
I can't say what version number it'll be, but... to reiterate, I'll work on this as soon as I release the current update.
