Title: Aqua mail downloading non stop on mate9
Post by: idanzalz on March 15, 2017, 08:09:28 pm
Hi,
I've been using aqua mail for years and it's awesome.
Recently I've moved to huawei mate9 from my previous Nexus 6p and it seems that when i install aqua mail it tries to download my whole exchange inbox. I checked the keep messages and cache settings and they are low (50).
But from the about page i see it loaded 15k messages and db is now 250mb so it's sluggish.

Any idea why it doesn't respect the keep and cache settings and just downloads the whole inbox? This is an exchange account and it worked fine on my previous phone, when i scrolled down it just loaded another batch, now it just has everything

Thanks

For Exchange accounts, there is a default account level "messages to sync" setting and it's 21 days, this takes priority over app level setting.

And due to the nature of Exchange specific sync algorithms, the initial sync can take some time, if the folder has a lot of messages (say, 10's of thousands).

The app is not downloading all messages, rather it's getting to a "baseline" state from which it then can sync "incrementally" (very quickly and efficiently).
