+ Android 5.0: native Material theme (shadows and ripples and stuff), status bar icon turned off by default, larger defaults for message text preload.
+ Gmail accounts: prompt to upgrade to OAUTH2 is no longer shown in account list, only in account setup.
One remaining 5.0 specific issue: HTML messages always load in "overview" (zoomed out) mode, even when my code doesn't ask for it.
---

This is about the icon bar in the compose window -- always along the top when using new theme + Android 5.0.

This version makes my Galaxy Tab S lag very noticeably more - eg scrolling mail list, tapping on a contact icon in the message list so that the action bar becomes green, entering a mail - well I guess i could just say the app became fairly heavier :P

@BigLisy - I'm not aware of any reason why it should be so, esp. on Android 4.*.
- Can you try switching to the old "light" theme and let me know if it's any different?
- If not, can you try Menu -> Compact the database in the account list menu (hardware Menu button when in account list / message list mode)?
-
Here you have in Spanish;
<string name="prefs_compose_buttons_top_not_available_summary">Siempre seleccionado cuando usas la tema nueva en Android 5.0</string>

Neither of them did the trick (I load 15 messages anyway). I reinstalled the play version and it's perfectly smooth again.
tried updating again, and it's very laggy again. maybe because I'm not lollipop?

@BigLisy -- Lollipop is not required (Aqua still runs on 2.1+).
I don't know what it is yet, but will try find out.
Can you try single panel (not side by side) mode (settings -> look and feel)? I'm just trying to narrow it down.

Same effect, no use. Also tried different options in both landscape and portrait, can't find the culprit.
edit: I ended up disabling pretty much every single feature, and the problem persists.

Darn. I don't happen to own any Samsung tablets, but just tried -dev8 on another manufacturer's 10.1" tablet, not seeing any difference from -dev7... Will keep looking.
-
@BigLisy --
Would it be possible to try two older, but also recent versions, to narrow it down further?

http://www.aqua-mail.com/download/AquaMail-market-1.5.1-25.4-dev7.2.3.apk
One more thing --
Do you only use Aqua on this tablet, or on other devices (phones, tablets) as well? If the latter, are you seeing the issue there as well?

Tried them both (the latter being the Google Play build I believe, which I've been using before), and both are smooth as butter. Only the dev8 seems to be problematic.
I do use AquaMail on a Lollipop Nexus 5 as well, and it's smooth there on dev8, but it's worth noting that both cpu and gpu power are substantially more powerful on the Nexus 5 (plus Touchwiz lag on the tablet), so it might be covering the lag. I'm aware I can't really word it well, I hope you understood my point.

Have you cleaned your cache, temporary files, etc using an appropriate app (Android Assistant, etc.)?
Yes I have, several times, including many re-installs of different versions. this latest dev8 build is the only one that lags severely.
But it's still pretty weird that this started happening all of a sudden only from a specific build.
I sent you two video links I uploaded on drive in a private message yesterday, comparing dev7.2.3 and dev8, just for reference.

✔✔ a gift for Thanksgiving
Please Kostya,
Would you add, in Message list, a user setting to display time/size in bold characters, for read and unread messages?
Just after Time/size color setting.
Un ENORME Merci

>> this latest dev8 build is the only one that lags severely
First, I think it's specific to Samsung's Exynos CPU / GPU -- no lag on my ASUS 10" (Intel processor) or any other devices (including Samsungs, but with Qualcomm, not Exynos).
Second, I went through the changes and reverted one specific thing in message list, please try the next -dev8.1 (will post later tonight).

I agree that it's most likely a Samsung issue.
But I think it's worth noting that the lag is present even in the settings scrolling. Or better worded, it's present in every aspect of the app, not just the mail list.
-
>> present even in the settings scrolling
Wow, really?
What about scrolling the system settings screen?
How about if you switch Aqua to single panel mode, expand all accounts, and scroll that?
One change I had to make was to build with the Android 5.0 SDK (libraries) -- which *should not* cause any issues down to 2.0, but I have to consider all possibilities...

@BigLisy
Found it.
I'm an idiot.
Thank you for reporting the issue and for all your other information. Helped a lot.
Now I can say it *will* be fixed in -dev8.1 later tonight.

Yay, glad I was picky enough to even report the slow-down! :D
So was it about only samsung, or was it affecting everything?
Anyway great job, this app is become always more lovely.

All devices, but barely noticeable on the assortment of devices that I have (from a MediaTek based no-name economy model to LG G3). But it happened to highlight a particular weakness of the Exynos.
