As the subject suggests, canned responses created by GMail web appear as if they were actual messages in Aquamail's Draft folder (it doesn't happen in GMail web, though). I tried deleting the message and sure enough, corresponding canned response was gone.

I use those too (created in Gmail web mail). Yes that's exactly how Gmail "exposes" them via IMAP. Drafts.
That it doesn't happen in *Gmail* web mail should not be surprising.

Yep, apparently they know a magic word opening a secret door. I had been an ardent user of Astro mail when it was still around and I don't recall seeing my canned messages in their draft folder.
Could you look into this issue one more time? There must be a solution ...

The canned responses *are* there - happily reported by Gmail over IMAP as "messages" (drafts) in the Drafts folder. They are there.
And there is nothing (that I can see) that indicates what they really are.
I just checked (created a new canned response too).
